The JCB song is a great piece of verse about a young boy's battle with bullies and his memories about going out with his Dad - who is his hero - in a JCB.

The references to transformers and Bruce Lee are sweet and evoke memories from people of my age.

The kid mentioned - Luke, aged five - wrote the song about his school life and problems with dyslexia.

I think the comments on here are a bit out of order tbh, ok is you don't like it fair enough but comments like: shit, shite and turd are a bit harsh.

By the way I really like it and have bought it:music:

So if you didn't know the background to the song you would like it anyway? I personally don't mind the song, yeah its not very tuneful but is 'ok'. Didn't however know the whole background to it and did think why are they singing about a 5 year old. You could break a lot of songs down to say i like this because of x y and z for example the singer was dying at the time etc etc but if you don't like the tune you don't like the tune right?

Liked it first time I heard it, just thought it was a bit cute and different to the manufactured 'pop' at the moment.

..like an alternative to 'the crazy frog'..? that's what I mean!

I understand what your saying about the references, they're from my childhood too.. but isn't that part of the hook? to make it personalised to a particular demographic? I'm guessing your late twenties early thirties? i.e. out of pop buying public's average age group..?

not wanting to be Mr Conspiracy, but this not an accidentally 'sweet' record.. it's intentionaly engineered to get your money... and it seems to have done the trick...

Mr Prawn, with the greatest respect, I think you've given up... :p

If it was engineered as you suggest why wasn't it a hit when first released?

Given up on what?

I have no idea why it's a hit now to be honest...?

I meant, given up on knowing when something is manufactured to your demographic, (with the added repeat exposure, and you being manipulated into thinking these are relevant lyrics to you? transformers etc.) and when it's just a rubbish record....

I just think it's all too easy these days to release anything and with the media and 'the industry' behind it, convince people it's a good thing, when actually the opposite is true....

They could make, I don't know, say a computer generated frog a hit...? but I'm sure you saw through that one....

so you like it...? each to their own..

 :D

My demographic, and prey tell what would that be?

From what I have purchased recently I must be anywhere from 10 to 80 either sex and an introvert extrovert with a liking for German Indians.

Surely you can't pigeon-hole someone over liking one record!!!

Another frog has had a hit, Robin will be upset but I'm sure Uncle Kermit will calm him down:D

The cartoon character having a hit is nothing new, The Archies were number one for eight weeks in 1969 and they were just felt-tip characters (but maybe had more personality than some others ;) )

Music is all about personal taste. I like the JCB song and I never owned a transformer

Then again I like Supra's so what does that say about my taste

Some of Nizlopi's tracks feature uillean (bag) pipes played by the father of one of the two band members. Doesn't sound like a calculated marketing strategy to me :)

Edit: I've never actually heard the JCB song.....
