RobSheffield
2001 Black TT Auto for 28k euro (£18k) in Ireland (Dublin) ! See this site: http://www.cbg.ie/Car_detail.asp?CBGID=342819&ID=577815&NumPics=3&Make=Toyota&Model=Supra%20Twin%20Turbo&frmFilter=Default Its been there a while now.... isnt that because Ireland doesnt require ESVA type things? i may be mistaken, but im pretty sure a mate sold 2 cars to irish buyers that nobody in the UK would touch because of esva/model report problems

Pete
The Transport section on the Irish Gov site : http://www.transport.ie/roads/vehiclestandards/approvalregulations.asp?lang=ENG&loc=1866 talks about motor vehicle type approvals. I can't find anything definitive about imports and got bored looking. Basically it looks like there is a type approval scheme like esva. DShox
rob - quite right. that used to be a loophole to get into the UK - import to ireland and then boat across to England. in that way the importer could sell to domestic market without spending the GBP650 + VAT to convert to UK Vehicle Inspectorate requirements.
