Dark Angel
OK - what the hell, since my new stereo system, when the bass is really booming, my speedo needle used to jump a little 5mph but only when stationary. (THIS IS PROBABLY THE RED HERON) However now, my speedo pleases itself, I could be doing around 20/30mph and the needle is at rock bottom. When doing higher speeds the needle can flinch from 100 down to 80 then back again, usually flinmches down from the current speed and then back up again, haven't seen it go higher than my current speed. Any help?

Guest Martin F
I would suspect installation of the stereo has disturbed the speedo converter. Maybe the earth connection or similar.
Dark Angel
You reckon its an easy one for the garage to sort thou - not very technical me - Its due a service anyway...
Guest Martin F
It should be, they just need to take the dash apart, find the speedo converter and make sure all the connections are good. If it's not that then it will need furrther diagnosis.

Alex
Which Speed de-limiter. My TRL one used to have a bug in it that would mean it would jump upto xxxmph when trickling in traffic. I asked Pete about it and he said it was a software glitch. Don't know if he ever fixed it??
SimonB
Mine does that occasionally as well (TRL). Never bothered doing anything about it though.
Dark Angel
OH - quite suprised how many people have or are experinecing it. Not sure which one was fitted by an import company, not very mechanical like, so would know where to look.
THOR Racing
I asked Pete about it and he said it was a software glitch. Don't know if he ever fixed it?? As far as I know version 3.7 software and above didn't have this problem. They can ALL be reprogrammed so for a small fee to cover postage and the 5mins it'll take to reprogram I can correct all the older ones if required. This is true for ALL version 3.0 PCB's If you are unsure take a look inside and note the version number of the printed circuit board. Most of them now have the SW version number written on them.
