Nice ride, what size are those rims? i see you have hooked yourself up with falkan rubber ....nice... bet that cost a few dough though... whats under the hood ? you got nos ?? RobSheffield
Just thought it was funny as it sounded like pimp my ride that is EXACTLY why!
Pete
I expect he was clueless. Watched too many F&F films and Pimp My Ride. It's no secret that I don't like Americanisms and slang polluting the English (British) language. I suppose Rims and Hood aren't too bad. Just don't start talking about fenders. toyotasuprauk
There is so much American tv on I'm surprised we haven't started speaking with an American accent by now.
Pete
I'd say "Alloys"

jim_supra
I'd say Alloy's or wheels, but have called them rims a few times now.

terribleturner
What i could never get over when i joined this site was the use of "Bling". I always thought chavs and P.Diidy used these words. But then what else would you call it?? Shinny cam covers just doesn't sound right
Jspec Germany
For the mother nation to talk like a colony eeeeeewwwww how revolting. You guys crack me up. *yank enters the thread*... easy, easy, put those guns down boys. There's no fight here, just a thirst cowboy on his favorite horse. Ah you britons are so prim and proper with your 'Queen's English'? I love it. Colony? Please. Save it for the Aussies. I will agree with you though, to lose your traditions and have your way of speaking change due to cultural influences from abroad can suck. However, you have nobody to blame but yourselves. Your thirst for American products, pop-culture, and style will ultimately be your downfall. I'm an American and I don't like a lot of the words used in the language today. I voted Alloy wheels, but would never say 'Alloy wheels'. That's something a used car salesman says because he doesn't know any better, and thinks it makes a 'wheel' sound better in some way. I call them wheels or rims, but never in a 'bling' kind of way. You're right, 'Bling' is for P-Diddy and white trash Americans who think Pimp My Ride is a great show and that F&F is realistic. Yada, yada, yada? Who the f*ck says that? I like traditions and favor the many UK accents. It helps you remember where you come from and who you are. Rant over. *finishes shot of bourbon and goes out to the stable to clean the horses' shoes*

Actually mate I think you'll find the Chief was being humerous, seeing as he's Irish and all. Here is another Americanism for ya's... Yada, Yada, Yada. Get over it. Yada, yada, yada? Ewen
Ive noticed a few quirks slipping into my language since joining this very forum...till then Id never called the car a 'Supe', never used dude / mate / bling...what a sheltered life Ive led. Wheels are wheels, but alloys / rims whatever, is er, cool dudes...tyres are tyres, but 'hoops' is happenin....I like the term car-candy rather than bling, I like bonnet rather than hood and I like petrol rather than gas...wonder what words the Japanese use, considering they have makes of wheels like 'Peyton Place Queen', 'Professor Oser' and 'Stern Face II'
Mike
shouldn't language evolve? I don't know anyone who speaks "the Queens English"... but then things like accents and colloquialisms don't exist south of Birmingham so no wonder people get upset with Americanisms.... Jspec Germany
In japan they're known as "fatty tuner GT-Turbo III super custom deluxe racing ultralights". The Japanese are fixated with giving everything 12 names.

raymanuk
I chose alloy wheels as that is what I have always known it as. Though is it not just like why buy Japanese cars when you should buy English?
tbourner
I only say rims in a sarcastic way to take the piss. It's all because of the f&f culture though, I had a kid down my road come up to me in the summer when I was washing the car, and said: "Has your car got piston rings?". I wondered why it was smoking so much!
