Seat Cupra 1.8 Turbo

My mates got one of these and he's been banging on about how fast it is for a while. He reckons he gave a TT a run for it's money a few weeks back right up to about 90mph.

I just laughed and took no notice, until I went in it last night! Jeez, it's quick!

He's had it chipped and I'd have to say It would easily match my standard TT in this weather. He claims it's 210bhp with the chip. My mate who was also in the car who has a BPU Scooby reckons it'd stick with his car too. I was well impressed.

Anyone else been in one of these?

I would say any reasonable power turbo car (200 bhp plus) is going to keep up with the supra from a standing start to 80 mph or so.

But i remember obliterating one of these at a rolling start from 70 mph.

The supra is all about in gear acceleration not standing starts its too fat for that :p

Blimey....seriously?

I had a civic type -r do this to me once.....could'nt shake him.....

although it was from about 20mph-80mph

Yeah, I mean balls out the GTR would win, but in normal driving scenarios 20-70, 30-90 etc it would be right there! Only after 100 would I think there'd be any major difference. And also launching, the Cupra struggles to get off the line with that power so really needs to be already moving!
