RobSheffield
ok, i may be worrying for nothing, my 95 TT 6 speed has no boost controller, first cat in place, HKS Fcon V, Greddy FMIC and yet shows 1.2 Bar. how can this be?! will EGTs climb too high? i have searched and researched and thought this was only possible with fitment of a 1st decat, restrictor ring and boost controller. anyone that could shed some light and maybe allay my fears, it would be most appreciated! on a side note, the EGT sensor appears to be mounted in the exhaust housing of number 2 turbo. is that sensible or risky? its how it came from Japan! supRo
Deffo haven't got a manual boost controller? I was making 1 bar with both cats intact and no boost controllers!
RobSheffield
not that i have found mate - and had most of the dash out - id be ecstatic to finally find one! i have 2nd cat removed by fully custom exhaust. only thing i can think is it has a Grainger Valve in place that i didnt know about... supRo
Probably does have one of those/mbc but no idea what it would look like mate! What bore size is your custom exhaust?
hadyn
Mate you'll find an MBC plumbed into the boost piping down by the alternator. If nothings there, it could be the FMIC raising the boost?

The restrictor ring and boost controller won't lower boost and won't be needed to reach 1.2bar with a full decat. (on a Jspec TT) Is the boost gauge reliable? Was the FCon mapped for 1.2 bar What boost did the car make before the semi-decat? A leaking pipe from the actuator to the first turbo could increase boost. I would check/replace it. I believe some other pipes can also have this effect but I don't recall which ones ATM. (I still don't fully understand the sequential system)

(I still don't fully understand the sequential system) yeah, i was aware boost controller doesnt lower boost, it only increases it right? boost guage is Defi Blackface - not sure on reliability... i dont know about the mapping of the Fcon V, as that was fitted and the 2nd cat was removed in Japan. leaking pipe sounds plausible, as does an MBC....i will investigate Hadyn - im pretty sure the FMIC doesnt effect boost level - its really only a safety factor at higher boost, not a way to increase boost. On most turbo'd cars an effective intercooler over stock will raise boost slightly. Not so sure on Supras though. And Defi gauges are like the Rolls Royces of jap gauges Quality is good
