Fifty
Ive had a really stressful time of late; new job etc etc and on visit to dentist he spotted a white mark on my tongue. Today I had to go to hospital to get it checked; I was soooo scared I pretty much froze on the way there; been so worried for ages; in fact this started a couple of years ago. I smoked heavily for the past years and of course you fear the worst -but recently down to 5 a day max. Anyway dishy doctor said doesnt look very bad but they will check it out in a few weeks to find out whats causing the trauma to my tongue; stop smoking take care of yourself and youll be fine. There are apparently thousands of reasons why these patches appear and not to be worried.. So now I feel much better.. big wake up call though. Silly old sod aint I! I need a hug:love:

Fifty
certainly does, so has it convinced you to give up the cigs then? Too right and Im going to start playing squash again (will probably have a heart attack instead:rlol: ) Seriously the fear was very bad. There was a young girl (20?) in the lift she said are you OK? I said yes not bad news fortunately she just looked so pained , she said not so for me I have serious tumour on my lip? I cried.
Pete
Scarey isn't it? Without wishing to spark a pie throwing debate about smoking issues...I can't believe it's still so prevelant in society after proof of the damage it causes. (Cue loads of people telling me how great smoking is and their great grandma is 102 and still smokes 20 a day.)
Soo
I've found in my life that the things I've feared most almost always never happened or were not half as bad as I feared and I think that's often the case. Bad things do happen, but in my experience they usually just jump up and get ya ! Really pleased for you 50....

dane_stone
I still smoke and have done for about 8 years im 24 and was rushed to hospital last year down to bad chest pains(Gp though my lung had collapsed). Luckily it was just bruising but it made me think if I carry on smoking soon enough I will be back in here but instead of a bruised lungs it will be cancer. I really do need to stop. Also how come I can buy cigarettes with loads of chemicals in but I can't smoke a natural plant that God has provided for us all.

rik
Glad it was good news. I gave up ciggies a couple of months ago, i don't feel physicaly better but every time i see people smoking i can't help but feel glad about it. I'm finding it quite rewarding, so good luck if you go for it.
