Recommended Posts

had lots of issues with trying to start my engine as its sat in the garage since OCT 2000:faint: finally got the engine started but its running as lumpy as fcuk. it feels as its only firing on 4/5 cylinders, anyway my spark plugs all seem very wet as though its over fuelling so taken the injectors out for some diagnostic work:eyebrows: . can anyone tell me if the spray pattern looks right ? my understanding of injectors was that it you spary a mist .

Have a look at the picture here, down the page a bit.

It's injectors 1 and 5 that have OK spray patterns. (remember that the conditions you're 'testing' them are far from those in their native environment, with air rushing through)

Since your fuel rail is off, I'd get them properly cleaned on a rig. Terry on this board could do them perhaps.

PS

I hope you were not using water in the pictures, they might rust inside!

well i guess if the spraying is not right i might as well just go ahead a buy some uprated injectors as these are out of the car. i'm glad that the injectors are at fault as i was running out of ideas of what to check next.

ps these are standard j-spec injectors 440s

They are seriously gummed up, I had some 440's like that installed once as a test, and it ran like a bag o shite - lumpy idle and missed heavily if you opened the throttle.

Get some bigger ones in and you can sell 'em for £50 to Soarer owners
