whitesupratt
Me and my group of friends are sick of spending new year in local clubs or pubs, fancied a big night out in london! I worked there for 8months and loved it! But don't have a massive knowledge of good nights out for new year clubbing/drinking! Iv noticed most clubs obviously are, however much a ticket, but what if you want a few drinks first, do you need a ticket for a bar/pub as well? Any tips or recomendations, send'em my way chaps! Bobbeh
Im pretty sure most clubs and bars will be packed toward the end of the night, closer to NYE, you need tickets to a lot of places on the weekend. Brixton Academy have a great gig on, I might be off to that. What sorta stuff do u like?
whitesupratt
Well, my mates like a mixture, easy to dance to have a laugh, house, trance, are my sorta thing but alot of people like everything. r&b, old skool, house , trance etc. we normaly like to go for a couple in bars, then hit a club! want a good new years eve! But gota last a while, as cant get home until first train, about 5.30am
Ceptik
Ministry of Sound? Zoo Bar? Tiger Tiger? Yates? Work your way around. Its great fun! Get very merry by the end. As said above though, you'll need to look into getting tickets for somewhere like Ministry.

Done the London new years eve thing many times and without knowing where you want to go in advance you just end up walking for miles, cold and pissed off. Nick1980
School Disco in Hammersmith! Went last year and we're gonna go again this year cos it was quality! School Disco is usually pretty good on any Sat cos people normally go there for a special night and they're all up for it, so NYE is a bit crazy. Ok, the music is a bit cheesy, but that's the whole point, and it's fairly easy to pull women dressed in school uniform (little skirts, stockings, knee high boots etc ), even if you're an ugly bastard like me Only 5-10 mins on the tube from picadilly circus too, so you can go to all those bars beforehand too if you like
whitesupratt
seeeerrrweeeeeeeeeeet! i think i have a few mates around there so maybe can stay with them, that could be an option...where in hammersmith is it?
Nick1980
It's at the Hammersmith Palais on Shepherds Bush road, literally 1 min from the tube station. link here
whitesupratt
cool, well ill have to put it to my mates! im sure me and you will have to speak further if they are up for it, where abouts do you travel from to go there then? Ummm, well I actually have a flat in Hammersmith, so from there! If I was coming from Dunstable though (my 'other' home), I'd get the train from luton then the tube to Hammersmith - it really is piss easy. Can't remember what line Welwyn is on, but doesn't it go to kings cross? picadilly line from there takes about 15 mins
whitesupratt
oh its cool, im familiar with how to get there no probs! i was working in london, and go there all the time, just not too hot on where the nightlife is!
Bobbeh
Turnmills is always good, Fabric also. Ministry of Sound has lost it imho, way too commercial these days.
Nick1980
oh its cool, im familiar with how to get there no probs! i was working in london, and go there all the time, just not too hot on where the nightlife is! Oh right....well, I wouldn't normally say the bars in Hammersmith were great, but they're pretty good before the school disco cos they get absolutely rammed with people in school uniforms! there's a Lloyds no1 which is ok and cheap just as you come out of the tube station, and the Edwards next door isn't bad either. That's what we do anyway - bit of pre-going out drinking in the flat, a few pints in those bars I mentioned, then on to schoolgirl chasing
whitesupratt
Hmm, my mouth is starting to water!...but in the way of bars...tickets arnt needed? the reason i keep asking, is if i drag my mates all that way and then it turns out we can't get in anywhere...i won't be too popular! Nick1980
Ummm, as far as I can remember you don't need tickets for the bars (obviously you do for the School Disco though), but I'm not 100% on that - got very drunk at my place last time, so I don't really remember the bars too well! I'm sure we went in a couple though, and I don't remember having tickets......... I'm back down there for work on friday, so I'll try to investigate for you! terribleturner
Turnmills is always good, Fabric also. Ministry of Sound has lost it imho, way too commercial these days. Tottally agree. I love a bit of Turnmills The best New years i have ever had was about 2 years ago where we all went for a Curry in Primrose hill, then walked up to the top of the green where we set off a couple of hundred quids worth of fireworks. Had a crowd round us of hundreds, was amazing specially with the view. I'm working but they are doing the fireworks again this year too. whitesupratt
Turnmills is becoming very attractive to me as well! But i have to take into account wether my mates will like it!
Bobbeh
Depending on the night you go, Turnmills has great DJs and full on trance/euphoric dance music going on, thats what I go for , its easily the best club around the area if you're into that stuff. They do have other areas for funkier stuff. Its a cool club tho, great lights/themed rooms etc, and plenty of little bars dotted around the place, its got a kinda underground grotty feel to it, but I like that
DaveMassie
The past few years we've headed to Brixton Academy and its always been a brilliant night! Obviously for those who like their music hard and fast, top night guranteed
