Is it possible to report a driver for road rage and bad driving and have any thing done about it??? :help:

Just had some cock pull out om me while i was in a queue off traffic from a side road, he had jumped the queue on his side road on the wrong side of the road and cut accorss from the right over the lane and tried to get into mine ahead of every one else (if that makes sense lol). He was no more than an inch from my wing and bumper at the front i beeped and had a go and he then got out and threatened me!! big fucker he was too  looked like a bouncer.

Is ther any way off reporting this kind of bad driving and abuse or do we just have to put up with it.... and really angry as he slaged of the Supra, since when has it been a "stupid LITTLE car" ..... Tosser!!! Got his reg as well

Ohhhhh so angry at the moment

I was following this OAP at 20mph for quite a while whilst in my van, it was on a 30mph road.

I got so pissed off that I overtook him and an island at the same time, no other traffic around.

He must've reported me to the Police becuse I got a phone call from a Police Officer the next morning before I went to work, she wanted a friendly chat! :D

I reported a taxi driver yesterday. Driving along the M6 i was in the BMW lane doing a steady 75ish cos it was pi$$ing it down, i mean visibility was about 20m or so. Steady flow of traffic, i was behind about another 4 cars and we were overtaking steadily when this great big mini bus came flying up my arse and stayed stuck to my rear bumper for ages. As soon as a gap came in the inside middle lane he blasted into that and then the outside, undertaking everyone, weaving in and out of the traffic and speeds of at least 100. This is the most apauling conditions id driven in for a long time, standing water, if hed have braked he would have aquaplaned into someone without a doubt. As soon as we hit a straight patch and traffic cleared i caught him up and phoned the taxi number and reported him. The woman wasnt too pleased and was very appologetic and said she would do something about it. Whether she will or not i dont know but made me feel better reporting it none the less.

So yeah id defo report him, assholes like that shouldnt be on the roads.

I know how you feel mate, check this out for crazy:

On my way home down the long country lanes to my house, following a tractor doing no more tan 20mph (was highly annoying but nothing you can do for a while!) then we get onto the long straight, and the tractor pulls into a lay by, cars one by one pass the tractor, then my turn comes around, i begin to pull out, when i hear horns blaring from cars behind, and a blue Vectra flies past VERY nearly hitting me cos I'd already started to pull out. I'm in such total shock at someone being so unbelievably stupid that i couldn't react quick enough to beep! REALLY felt like following him (it was a him, with a child in the car too!) and teaching them a real good lesson in driving but I needed to get home. Gets me :swear: cos people just don't respect other road users. Got the number plate too but never got round to reporting it. Should do though

Im terrible with road rage. If someone really gets on my nerves or cuts me up bad etc then i have a tendancy to follow them and keep following them. I wouldn't ever do anything as far as violence go but it does shit them up a little. ;)

It's worse in summer cos it's much more tempting to wind your window down and give them a piece of your mind, especially dick head taxi drivers in city centres and you're waiting at traffic lights for them to turn green when they decide to enter your lane with no prior warning and very nearly de-wing you! It'd be rude not to wind your window down and call them every name under the sun. Hypothetically speaking of course.....

Local police station mate, number will be in your phone directory

But IF you want something done, you'll probably better off in going in and getting a form to fill in to report dangerous/careless/reckless driving. The problem in getting a job to court tho is that unless there are any independent witnesses, its unlikely to get as far as a prosecution stage due to the your word against his situation.

It costs a lot of money to launch a prosecution and the Police these days are bound by CPS charging standards guidelines which means there has to be a likelihood of over 80% chance (or higher) of gaining a sucessful prosecution based on evidence PRIOR to charging.

So when it's said that the Police never do anything you're probably right, as these days unless you can get to the 80% stage on a job, the CPS will throw it out before it even gets of the ground.

That was me! My s59 got revoked and I never got called in for the warning the the section sergeant mentioned.

They hand out these Section 59 warnings out a lot around here, it is their new favourite thing. Get two in a year and your car is impounded, simple.

It will probably depend on your local forces attitude to the s59 system, but all I have to do here is phone the station or pop in, give them the relevant details and hey presto - a warning is given to the person I said caused me distress. A friend of mine got one given to someone last week for overtaking twice on a blind bend, most of the 'boy racers' around here have had s59's and don't seem to care.

It's a good idea if you have a genuine case, but open to abuse IMO. I get the impression the police here love them (they told me so) as there is no need for court, witnesses and all those other trivialities associated with the judicial system.

Class one,

How do S59s or whatever they are called, you know, the driving asbo thing, get handed out. Does that involve a court case?

Thank you.

No this sec 59 thing is aimed at the vehicle rather than the driver. Like the slag pool car or moped that gets shared out at many a council estate acros the bredth of our fine country, that gets used in an antisocial manner. So if slag A lends slag B his moped and slag B then rides it or uses it in a manner on a road or other public place which is liable to cause amongst other things harassment alarm or distress, then a person may report this wrong doing to their local plod. Said local plod will if they're any good come down and investigate the manner and trace the registered keeper of the said slag vehicle. Plod will then say to said slag that he's received complaints and to desist with such antisocial and frankly unbecoming behaviour and serve them with a " Section 59 Police Reform Act 2003 notice warning them that if their vehicle is used again in such manner in the following 12 months the vehicle will be seized by Police.

A rather draconian but effective bit of legislation aimed at improving the quality of life for some of the poor sods of this land whose lives are blighted but such young ruffscruffians.

Or a flawed, poorly thought-out knee jerk reaction that allows people to be receive punishment based on nothing but hearsay and conjecture?

I agree with the idea behind the s59 and want to see the roads rid of these idiots, but it is too open to abuse from the public and police. All it means is that the 'ruffscruffians' around here sell their cars more regularly.

I'm going off-topic here, going back to the first post I would personally pop in the local police station and see what they advise.

Sec 59 Notices are intended for situations like I have described above. And cruises etc where people do burnouts and that sort of stuff and yes if your car is too loud (not jusy the exhaust but for ICE too). But there has to be a degree of common sense in its approach and usage and Outatime was given some advice which I think cleared the matter up for him in the end ( I haven't read back throught the thread but you get my gist)

Sec 59 is about antisocial behaviour rather than piss poor driving standards or instances of uncourteous driving and when used properly is a good effective tool to combat that. outatime was unlucky that he came across a nobhead who improperly used the legislation.
