Kip
Why is it getting so bleeding difficult to get descent rubber at sensible prices for my standard 16" wheels. 245. 45. 16's on the rear 225. 45 16's on the front. Bloody rockin horse sh*t - F1's no longer available apparently and all the other tyres that I have tried in the past have suddenly rocketed in price - whats the score? When I got the car a couple of years ago I had no problem getting whatever rubber I wanted yet over those couple of years I have noticed my options dwindle. 17's seem to have a great supply so why not the 16's?? merckx
Lack of demand! Wheel sizes have increased over recent years even on standard family cars.
Kip
So what's the solution? And, I don't want to have to buy new wheels, I like mine the way they are. Does any one know where 16's can still be got? - at sensible prices! I was buying Toyo T1s's for the winter, but prices have got silly- last set of rears in the summer were Bridgestones expieda at £85 each - not a bad summer tyre but need changing now we have dampness! Suggestions gratefully received....
Wez
U got upgrade to stock 17" wheels as they will not affect your insurance and there are lots more tyres available. I just got a set to stick some slicks on
toyotasuprauk
I was surprised how expensive 16" tyres cost I ended up paying £100 each for continental sport contact for the fronts last year. You can still get them easy enough though, if your local tyre place doesn't have them they can almost always order in what ever you want or at least that's what mine said last year. Have you tried the online tyre places to get an idea of price?
Kip
Cheers guys, will look in to both options. Stock 17's - hadn't thought of that - good one. I have asked my local garage to scout about with the tyre guys and see what he comes up with. Any one got any stock 17's in the back of their shed? MattSZ
Try http://www.blackcircles.co.uk http://www.mytyres.co.uk if theres nothing there it would be good time to upgrade to some bigger wheels the traders on here can give some good prices on rims + tyre packages.
