keron
ok, basically just replaced lower suspension arm no1 and the long strut rod. i also took the suspension leg out too. put it all back together and the car seems to sit about 1 cm higher then the other side? does the suspension leg go on one way round only? answers on a post card! thanks
Chris Wilson
Did you retighten the bushes through bolts with the cars weight on the suspension? If not the preload in the bushes will be additional to the spring rate and the car will sit high, and the bushes may tear or fail prematurely. Are you the chap that clouted a kerb? I hope you changed the rear wheel bearing too, they will almost certainly be brinelled (bruised) by the impact and will be, or go, noisy. keron
hi chris, what do you mean by "If not the preload in the bushes will be additional to the spring rate and the car will sit high" i tightened the bolts etc first, then put the leg in last. so do i need to loosen the arms with the sus' leg on then tighten them? Chris Wilson
You need to slacken then re tighten all the bushing bolts you removed or loosened with the weight of the car sat on the tyres, a 4 post ramp makes this easy, as does a pit, otherwise "have fun"
Guest Martin F
Use a block of wood on top of a hydraulic jack against the hub, and then jack up until the car starts to lift of the axle stands. Well that's the paupers method that i use.
