Dash Rendar
My TrafficStar chrome rims took a heavy beating from the winter last year and I don't want them to get even worse this time round. So I need a winter set (in 18s). I really like the Kahn RS-C two piece wheel, but sadly it's out of price range. The RS-C one piece is too plain. The Fox RS7 seems like an affordable alternative that is similar to the RS-C 2-piece, but Halfrauds inform me that you can only get them in sets of four where all four are the same size. I believe that what I actually need is a pair of 8s for the front and 9.5s for the rear. (Hope that's right??) I don't really want to spend any more than 800-900, including tires. Am I asking too much? Any recommendations?
Rayman
Maybe so, i think the compomotive ones that Paul Whifbitz is selling are good value, you get the different widths front and back and i think they look great! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=51184 Also try here for some cheaper ones:- http://www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/search.asp?numrecordposition=1&strSize=18%22&strkeywords=GTO,%20Kyoto&strSort=Low&Make=Toyota&Model=Supra%20Mk4%20Import
Dash Rendar
Those Kyoto Shadows look nice. And similar to the Kahn 2 piece again. Good find Rayman.
Rayman
No problem just wondering after id posted whether they are the correct widths? Do you not need wider backs than fronts? They seem a bargain price tho! Also try here, they are quite expensive but you get an idea of what is available and maybe you can find a better price elsewhere(wheels&tyre) once you know what you want:- http://www.performancealloys.com/find_wheel.asp?procedure=by_car Search by car! Dash Rendar
I emailed Rochford and they replied very promptly. Unfortunately, the Kyoto Shadows don't come wide enough.
terribleturner
Which brakes have you got?? If the J-specs then i still have mione for sale at a bargain price
Dash Rendar
Still J-Specs James. Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass on this occasion. On the other hand, if you were planning to sell a ridiculously oversized spoiler....
Bobbeh
I think 8 at the front is a little too narrow for a TT, 9.5 at the rear and I believe 8.5 is at least what you want up front. The Kahns are a great looking wheel.
nickyboy
My TrafficStar chrome rims took a heavy beating from the winter last year and I don't want them to get even worse this time round. So I need a winter set (in 18s). Polish out or permanent damage?
Dash Rendar
TBH, one of the rims was in a pretty poor state when I bought the car. The previous owner used 'Wonder Wheels' which really messed up the chrome. When the winter set in, it caused more chrome to peel where the damage had already been done. The chromes can't be polished and rechroming is way too expensive. I can't remember what I was quoted, but it was obscene (and more expensive than buying a new set of wheels). The other three wheels are pretty good. http://www.darrenlester.net/images/jpg/supraMed/supra8p-M.jpg Besides, my rear tyres are pretty much on the legal limit now, so I need a new set. I figured it would be prudent to make the most of the situation and buy a set of wheels with tyres now. Well, that's my crazy thinking anyway! Dash Rendar
I've bought my new winter rims!! A little bit over my original budget, but I'm very pleased with them! Apologies for the poor pics. I don't have much opportunity to take photos in daylight at the moment. Maybe I'll take some more on the weekend... If the car isn't once again covered in winter sludge. raymanuk
Nice wheels Dash What are sizes are you running? Cheers,
Dash Rendar
Thanks Ray. I went for 18s, based on the consensus on this board that it's a good compromise between looks and handling.
Rayman
8" front and 9" back? Nice rims!
