Supra_Al
I want to change this belt on my N/A....had a look, and can see that the belt is tensioned through a 'sprung' pulley. How do you untension this belt in order to remove the belt? Al.
Steve Cargill
I just did this today replacing my alternator. Took a bit of playing around then I cracked it (not literally LOL) Get a socket that fits on the nut in the centre of the tensioner pully on a solid bar (ratchet would do, but solid is easier in this case) and try to tighten the nut. This works against the spring removing the tension. Putting the belt back, it goes round the outsides and comes into the tensioner between the crank and alternator. Steve W
The TENSIONER just needs pushing 'off-belt' enough to allow the belt to be slipped over one pulley...
Steve W
BEAT ME TO IT BY ONE MINUTE STEVE ! ! (don't worry about the tensioner... it'a a simple wound spring-type and can be gently forced back, no problems....
