terribleturner
Got my car back from the garage today and was told that the sensor had been overtightened to the extreme for the EGT gauge. Ihadn't realised that when another garage installed it they put it into the downpipe (not what i was expecting). So cats on and cats off and sensor installed back, but now i've developed a problem. Before as the temp rose so did the needle on the gauge, and then slowly as it cooled it lowered, but only slowly. Now it only rises when i have my foot down (Forcing more gases out) and then quickly falls again. Anybody wanna stab in the dark what could be the problem?? Could it be it's not in deep enough on the pipe or maybe somehow air is leaking around it somewhere??
TrickTT
Thats what it is supposed to do. The egt sensor in mine was installed by CW in the manifold and drops like a stone on the overrun, cos the engine is only flowing air, no fuel. About 400C difference between WOT and overrun. terribleturner
Really, that's intresting, because that would make more sense to me. Been driving it a year now and when it starts to fall it goes REALLY slowly, as if it was taking the temp from the pipe itself and not the gas passing through. Anyone else? Miguel
Yup, If the probe is not far in enough it will take its reading from heatsoak and rise and fall real slow . The key is to get the probe tip right in the gasflow to get a more accurate reading. You know when you got it right as the readings will rise quick on WOT and fall quite quickly on off throtle. terribleturner
How was the US Mig?? So what your saying is that for the last 10+ months i've been driving around with it not in enough and now it's in the right place. I guess coz i was used to it going up and coming down slowly that this was the right way.
