Am I the only person who likes London?

I'd think it would ruin it for me. I really really like London. I like driving around in London, I like walking about in London. I like the idea of going to London and seeing all of those crazy places. But to live there would spoil it I think. :nyah:

No way! If you lived there you coud drive/walk round London everyday, and going to see all those crazy places would be much easier :nyah:

I love the fact that (when I'm there) Hammersmith Bridge (which is absolutely beautifaul at night) is 5 mins away, I can walk down the river, the west end with all its bars, shops, attractions etc is literally 10 mins away by tube, etc etc :blahblah:

Having said that though, I think you have to live in a fairly central or niceish part to fully appreciate living in London - I used to work in Acton, and I wouldn't really want to live there - all the hassle of London (high prices, traffic etc) but it's just like living in any boring town outside London - pure suburbia

Personal opinion from when I worked down there. Spend a week in London then a week in Newcastle and tell me there's not a difference

Never been to Newcastle to be honest, but I'm sure not everyone is friendly there, just like I know that 'in general' people aren't ignorant in London - I'm certainly not, and neither are my friends and colleagues :D

I actually don't mibnd Acton. A couple of mates share a house there and i've spent many a drunken weekend there. I have to agree that i wouldn't want to live in London i don't think. Where i am it can take 30 minutes to get to the centre, but 30 minutes the other way and your in the middle of nowhere.

I think the worse thing about London which everyone has over looked is the parking. There isn't much unless your ready to pay lots of money. Used a Parking Meter th other day in Knightsbridge and it cost £9 for 3 hours, not to mention the £6.50 lost in the previous ticket machine.

I can't be bothered to read 5 pages of this thread so I'll skip straight to my opinion lol :D

Personally I work in London (square mil) and 99% of the time I don't like the place. I couldn't stand the idea of living here. BUT.... ocassionally (and Christmas is usually one of those times), I take time to properly see the sights and the history, rather than the over-paid world of glass buildings and porkers. At these times I completely fall in love with the city. I remember when I started working up here 5+ years ago, my dad took me out on a lunch break and explained some of the history to me.... wow

Within a short time you can visit the spot where the great fire was apparantly started, see where Jack the ripper found his victims ;) and walk past the pub where Dickins wrote the pickwick papers :)

The sheer number of historial sights is amazing, even more so when you consider the small space they're all in.

Ok maybe I said it the wrong way. In general, people in Newcastle are a lot more friendly (but then again we're all Brown Ale drinking, nonsence talking, fat, balding, non-jacket owning miners)
