Nick1980
I'd think it would ruin it for me. I really really like London. I like driving around in London, I like walking about in London. I like the idea of going to London and seeing all of those crazy places. But to live there would spoil it I think. No way! If you lived there you coud drive/walk round London everyday, and going to see all those crazy places would be much easier I love the fact that (when I'm there) Hammersmith Bridge (which is absolutely beautifaul at night) is 5 mins away, I can walk down the river, the west end with all its bars, shops, attractions etc is literally 10 mins away by tube, etc etc Having said that though, I think you have to live in a fairly central or niceish part to fully appreciate living in London - I used to work in Acton, and I wouldn't really want to live there - all the hassle of London (high prices, traffic etc) but it's just like living in any boring town outside London - pure suburbia
GeordieSteve
Can't stand the place. The people are ignorant (in general... but people up in Newcastle seem to be very friendly), the prices are insane, it's dirty etc. etc.
Nick1980
The people are ignorant (in general... but people up in Newcastle seem to be very friendly) Hmmmm, stereotyping a touch there methinks. That's like me saying "It's grim oop north" (it is though, by the way )
chilli
London has attractions worth seeing occasionally, personally I think I'd soon get bored of them if I lived there and saw them all the time though...

Spend a week in London then a week in Newcastle and tell me there's not a difference
MrAngry
I can see the city from where I live and that's close enough for me. Although technically I live in a borough of London. Last time I was in town was a year ago
chilli
Has anyone played with google earth? you can get some quite good views over London (not all of it covered well yet though) - as well as other worldwide capitals/cities.

Faye
Working in London tends to take any of the fun out of it for me, but I used to love going up there with my dad when I was younger. I especially liked tooling around on the buses
chilli
I don't think the people in London are born ignorant. All the hustle and bustle of a big city can leave people with little time for one and another though, which is a shame.
terribleturner
I think you have to live in a fairly central or niceish part to fully appreciate living in London - I used to work in Acton, and I wouldn't really want to live there I actually don't mibnd Acton. A couple of mates share a house there and i've spent many a drunken weekend there. I have to agree that i wouldn't want to live in London i don't think. Where i am it can take 30 minutes to get to the centre, but 30 minutes the other way and your in the middle of nowhere. I think the worse thing about London which everyone has over looked is the parking. There isn't much unless your ready to pay lots of money. Used a Parking Meter th other day in Knightsbridge and it cost £9 for 3 hours, not to mention the £6.50 lost in the previous ticket machine. Scoboblio
I can't be bothered to read 5 pages of this thread so I'll skip straight to my opinion lol Personally I work in London (square mil) and 99% of the time I don't like the place. I couldn't stand the idea of living here. BUT.... ocassionally (and Christmas is usually one of those times), I take time to properly see the sights and the history, rather than the over-paid world of glass buildings and porkers. At these times I completely fall in love with the city. I remember when I started working up here 5+ years ago, my dad took me out on a lunch break and explained some of the history to me.... wow Within a short time you can visit the spot where the great fire was apparantly started, see where Jack the ripper found his victims and walk past the pub where Dickins wrote the pickwick papers The sheer number of historial sights is amazing, even more so when you consider the small space they're all in. In general, people in Newcastle are a lot more friendly (but then again we're all Brown Ale drinking, nonsence talking, fat, balding, non-jacket owning miners)
