Chris Wilson
1000 (real, proper, dyno ones) 2 valves per cylinder, V6 iron block. But the 2 valves are big, as in HUUUUGE!
chilli
they are big arn't they, don't think 4 valves would see much larger surface area there! what engine is it from? I take it the valves are oversize, not standard?
Alex
so what's it out of? A Lola of some description but I'm not sure what series used V6's?
Chris Wilson
It's from this, an oldish Lola T880 Indy Car I've made an offer on. All very crude technology, but probably the ultimate suppository in the wet It's in (a LOT of) bits at the moment though. The valves are titanium, and definitely NOT stock! Alex
Damn I was going to say Buick engined Indy car...but thought how on earth would you get your hands on one of them!!
chilli
a buick engine? that thing looks like pure madness on steroids!
Ian C
Size of those ports! Billet roller rockers, mmmm... What's the ratio on those suckers? Those valves are hilariously big. I'd like to see the cam -Ian
Chris Wilson
Cheap as chips to buy, relatively speaking. On qualifying boost they give just over 1000 BHP, 850 in race trim, run for ages without a rebuild, engine parts make MKIV bits look VERY expensive! There's not much you can DO with one in the UK though, apart from frighten yourself and anyone on the track with you. The car ran at Thruxton and overtook a 90's F1 car down the straight like it was stood still. Fell over itself at the next corner though, a bit of a point and squirt thing. The squirting is fun though!

Chris Wilson
Yes, it's a methanol junkie. But methanol is cheaper than race fuel by far, although they have a prodigious thirst and a HUGE fuel cell to carry it all. I banged a few more pics on my ftp site if anyone's interested. ftp://ftp.chriswilson.tv/lola_indy
eyefi
i suppose the wife knows about this?
Chris Wilson
She came with me to look at it.... Or maybe to try and talk me out of it, who knows with women!? I doubt I'll buy it, the bid was a bit insulting, but who knows...?

Ian C
ftp://ftp.chriswilson.tv/lola_indy/lola%20in%20bits0008.jpg Is that a cunning way of fitting in four-bolt mains without having to go from the side of the block? The outer pair of bolts are at about 30deg off the inner pair so it would be very difficult to lift the cap, this must be a high revving motor -Ian
SteveR
Can I have a go in it?
Chris Wilson
Yes, it's the exit pipe from the wastegate. It doesn't run an I/C or a BOV, in fact most race turbo engines don't run BOV's. The plumbing is all pretty simple, as are the electrics.
