Mike B
Hi Guys - I've put some veilside original spats on the old girl, but as you will know they need siticking / fixing to the rear bodywork. I've tried the stickiest double sided foam tape I can find - made sure all surfaces are super clean - but the spat has too much stength and it pulls the countour out, and hence the spat off the panel. What does everyone use?
DamanC
windcreen bonder/tiger seal should do the job. be warned that that will not come off after!
Mike B
Does this mean it will damage the paintwork of I need to take it off in the future? and where would I get some from?
DamanC
more than likely yes. Both are available from car shops maybe halfords, cost about £9 a tube, you will need a gun too (b&q job)
Mike B
Does anyone have any paint friendly options?
Dragonball
Not really mate - double sided does work - but you may have to renew it (rain gets in etc) Otherwise - why not bond them on?
absz
you can try- 3m automotive acrylic plus tape. its normally used to fit door mouldings on very strong but also expensive . will not damage paintwork but you will need to degrease the panel and spats for a long lasting job, also with any adhesive tapes you need a bonding temperature of a least 16 degree c i normally use a hair dryer to warm panels up before any fitment. Thanks matey this is what I thought - I tried the double sided foam tape that has worked before i de-greased and hair dryiered but as soon as the heat goes it popped straight off. I'll search for some 3m automotive acrylic plus tape on the net. any supplier out there you know of?
