Paul R
Hi, Just went out in my car and I heard a noise after I started her up. I noticed that the auto spoiler light was flashing, so I got out and had a look. sure enough the spoiler was down at the front. Why would it come down when stationary for no apparent reason?? I cant get it to do it again. Any ideas?? Paul.
swamp
mines the same....think its the self test. also my spoiler dosnt want to come down sometimes at speed???
Steve W
Don't know of a Self-Test ? Mine doesn't (but then, it could be mine that's broke !? ) Mine only comes down with engine OFF / ignition ON and press the Spoiler button... ie. 'Cleaning' mode. As soon as I 'start' it rises.... I have noticed that I CAN make it come down, sometimes, even with the engine RUNNING, just by pressing the Spoiler button... don't think I'm supposed to be able to do that ? ? Obviously the 'UP with engine RUNNING' bit is a safety thing to stop you accidentally SPEED-BUMPING-IT ? ! Mine also doesn't seem to come down 'Automatically' until I reach ~65mph.... supposed to be ~55/56mph ? ? (YES, speedo IS reading ~right ! ) ? ? ? Paul R
Ok, just tried that and the spoiler dropped as expected! But when I do it this way the spoiler light doesnt flash. Before it was flashing??? wierd! Paul.
Steve W
when it went DOWN the 'flashing' time, how did you get it up, or did it go up itself ? I wouldn't worry TOO much, some mkIV owners even 'LOCK' it in the down position for looks ! ! 'sides, it's fairly soft rubber so doesn't damage TOO easily, AND even when it's DOWN, still not lower (if AS low!) as some Pooper-Scooper front spoilers ! ! ! FatS. Umm...I think I had to press the 'Auto Off' button. How do you lock it in the down position? is there some mod dor it? I'm glad you mentioned the 'Cleaning' Mode. The spoiler is bloody filthy!! Didnt know that thing was coming down and ruining the look of my nice shiny car!! Gonna get the back to black out tomorrow!!! Paul.
Steve W
Some even PAINT/ colour-code 'em (along with the lower/front plastic trim) (don't know if Geeza's is 'locked' down or just doing his PEACOCK bit again ! ! )
Geezabloke
Mines down perm, m8, No time for messing, Just get it out. You have to do a link in the motor loom connector to fool the ECU and stop the warning light if you want it down perm. A search will get you the info (I think it was pins 3 + 4) best to look it up though. :flame Dev

How much did that cost you? or did you do it yourself, looks much better!

Geezabloke
From memory, £175 cash, that included lip, spoiler and headlamp washers...... I think it makes a subtle difference, it really stands out against standard black especially on coloured cars...:flame Dev
Geezabloke
The info you want should be in here? http://www.trlperformance.com/supra I set the spoiler down, removed the drivers side headlight, disconnected the spoiler motor plug and put a wire link between pins 3 + 4 of the plug going back to the ECU. You need the spoiler button off in the cockpit, this should enable the spoiler to stay down without any anoying warning lights... Hope this helps Dave :flame Dev :flame Dev :flame Dev

Steve W
I can see people throughout the land getting friends and family to drive in front to check....lol DID THAT as soon as I got it back from it's initial 'repairs' from the dealers I bought it from ! ! ! Got me dad to drive in slow lane up a dual carriageway at ~70, then came up to the right ~60 and slowly increased it 'till he gave the 'thumbs'.... It IS the only way to be sure, 'cos you can't HEAR that little "gggrr" noise when moving ('specially wiv the NUR:p ) SOME say you can FEEL the difference with it up.... some say you can't.... ? ? FatS. [i actually like the extra clearance it gives me when it's UP, bit better for car-park 'bumps' and getting up kerbs etc ?!]
Geezabloke
But it gives the visual enhancment when its down and if you wasnt bothered about the looks you wouldnt have bought a Supra:p ........ner..! hehehehehehehehehehe
Steve W
No mate, all jokin' aside, I actually plumped for the Soop because it was the 'sensible' choice (?). I wanted a bigger/turbo/auto/ that sent me towards GTO/300ZX/RX7/Soop Scoobs/Evo etc are too manic and don't come in auto' anyway ! THEN, it was the engine/box reliabilty... that immediately threw the GTO/RX7 out.... (also, the straight 6 is much easier to work on than both the V6 GTO and 300ZX) then, how easy to 'play' with the engine... = Soop PLUS, I scoured the net/BBS's and really was impressed with the chaps/chapess' on here ! ! ! (?) it really DID become a natural choice for me. ('course, it didn't hurt the decision when I took a few test drives in a couple:p ) looks really WASN'T in the equation... although I know it is/was for some/most... FatS SORRY PAUL... I KEEP knicking peeps threads like this..... SORRY ! !
Geezabloke
I must admit.......... It really is the most sensible car ive ever owned.......... Brrrmmmm Brrrmmmm :flame Dev Steve At the end of the day M8, GOOD BLOODY CHOICE........!
Sharpie
Originally posted by Steve W SOME say you can FEEL the difference with it up.... some say you can't.... ? ? I did some testing on the way up to CW's yesterday with and without the spoiler down and could feel the difference. The testing was done at a steady speed for up and down. The feedback from the wheel when making slight movements is that the car feels more planted with it down, more stable when switching lanes....as you can see I am not techie When it was up, the car felt lighter at the front to move left to right but, not as secure I guess........... I have a stock UK suspension btw.
