active spoiler ecu - removal

i want to blank the three switches under the stereo. in order to do this i need the spoiler to b permanently off (its not there anymore). can the spoiler ecu b removed to accomplish this? where is the spoiler ecu? can the feeds into the spoiler ecu b left dangling?

No, this will make the red waning triangle appear and the spoiler light flash whenever you reach about 55mph.

 

It has to be at the ECU, and I believe Gavin is correct with the location.

TRUE.....

 

but you can short pins 3 and 4 of the motor plug to fool the spoiler ECU into thinking the spoiler is permenantly parked and hence if you also short the AUTO button as well it'll never try to lower it.

 

Short pins 6 and 8 of the Spoiler Switch

and short pins 3 and 4 of the Motor Plug

 

Saves removing anything and can always be reinstated later. Should you wish. Also save the little hassle of getting the radio out of the way etc.

That is what I did after I installed my FMIC, my only concern was what would happen if the 'spoiler off' button was accidentally put back to 'auto' mode while the pins are bridged...

 

Ahh ha!

That's why I said short the switch as well. ie. remove the switch and blank it. That was the original question :)
