BL 67 - AS NEW (refurbed) + water cooled

Right my turbo is being removed from my car on Christmas when I return and having it sent off to be completely re-furbed as it has some play in the compressor wheel and I feel its only a matter of time till it blows!

I remember a few of you asking me to keep you in the frame for it so here is that message

Either way Im getting it 100% re-furbed to sell AS NEW... My new turbo is water cooled as well Which I think is something that is SERIOUSLY needed as the BL's tend to have a very short shelf life if used daily and they are not water cooled as well.

CJ and Terry have modified both of their turbos to be oil and water. CJ After he blew his up.

While my old turbo is being refurbed Im going to get it modified to be water cooled as well.. Obviosly at further expense.

Ill be selling it for £850 and it will be like new and modified to be both Oil and Water cooled. Let me know people

EDIT.. Oh yea its a P trim so spools V Fast...

Well,

Everyone who I know that has fitted has either blown or modified it.

CJ.. Blew his modified it to oil + water cooled... Not had a problem since.

Terry modofied his before he even put it on I beleive..

Mine has done less than 4000 miles and its on its last legs... Spinning the wheel it is all over the place and has also got loads of shaft play..

I dont know if its just mine and cj's but makes me wonder why they dont come water cooled as well from new.

Im going for a bigger turbo myself with DBB cartrige. (water + oil cooled) Turbo blanket is going to be a gonner as Ive bought an HKS metal heat shield for the exhaust side so thats up for sale as well.

£90 for the blanket.... 6 months use!

Whoa, hang on, I've had a T67 on mine for about 18 months and it looks brand new still, inside and out. Daily driver, only car, put about 20,000 miles on it. Terry modified his simply by changing housings, nothing to do with longevity, Matt's is running fine after 18 months as well, Branners' is still going strong, As is Tannhauser, and SecondJump...

CJ ran his at 1.8bar everywhere IIRC, which is north of the rated normal pressure for that turbo (1.4bar I think). Your J-Tuner article said you span the wheels up at 100mph, as I can't do that on the same turbo setup at 1.4bar (70mph in 3rd, yes ;) ) I'd say you were running more than 1.4bar as well...? And you aren't afraid to use it too from what I've read.

I dont know if its just mine and cj's

I'd have to say yes :p

makes me wonder why they dont come water cooled as well from new.

Because it's not necessary if you sympathetically shut down and it costs more to implement, therefore you'd pay more for the turbo

I'm chopping mine out for a T67DBB as soon as the first one hits these shores, but that's only because a) I want to see if it improves the spool noticeably, and b) I got offered a very favourable deal as long as I promised to do a writeup on it (backed by datalogged figures - I've already got them for the T67p, and yes, if it's ineffectual I'll say so, don't worry). It'll be an interesting test :D See, see, I'm still not going for more power :p Just more drivability. I can't see why the hell you'd want more for a road car.

I was gonna offer mine up for like £600, I didn't know they were worth £850 ;)

Ian is incorrect in his assumption that I ran my turbo at 1.8 bar - it was 1.9 bar:D That did cook the thing and meant that I had to have it refurbished. Whilst doing so I did modify it to a water cooled variant as that was what the turbo builder suggested.

As it happens, I recently changed mine for a T71GTQ so my recently refurbed turbo is also for sale and cheaper than both mention earlier. PM me if interested :D
