First Time for Everthing...

:thumbdown Not under the best circumstances but I got to fly for the first time today - see pic....

... it's Devon's air ambulance just about to take off outside our house with our 11 month old and me inside.

Took us about 3-4 minutes to get to Exeter hospital (usually 30mins by road!)

Baby Samuel took it in his stride and slept the whole journey! He's fine, they've wrapped it up and we have to have it changed daily for a while.

We were just getting ready to go out to a birthday party and our toddler (2years old) managed to take down the nappy bag, take out a thermos freshly filled with boiling water, take off the lid and tip some on the baby scalding the back of his leg. He had a large blister on the back of his calf and a burst blister on the back of his thigh bigger than an old sized 50p.:scare:

Major panic, followed by a 999 call and we were told not to do anything to it and that an ambulance was on its way. A minute later they ring back to say a helicopter was also coming. I put the phone down and 30 seconds later I hear the helicopter! Turns out they were almost right over the farm when they took the call! We are on their flight path between Barnstaple and Exeter and they were just returning from Barnstaple!

So I get to fly, and while countryside is at its prettiest with all the snow too. Amazing how flat everything looks from up there.

My Dad's been involved in fundraising for the air ambulance and always said you never know when it might be needed!

Samuel doesn't seem to know anything's happened and is crawling around as usual while us parents and everyone else tries to get over the shock. How easy these things happen! Makes you very glad that the services are there for you when things go wrong.

I did that when i was little too. Permanent scarring prevented by my dad who shoved me under the kitchen tap for 10mins until the ambulance arrived. Do not attempt to remove clothes, just soak scalded area under running water.

Glad the little'un is ok.
