Jake
How can i take a film/clip and turn it into a gif?? Like yours Colsoop, and mine come to think of it.I load the video clip into VirtualDub, edit as required, then "File" > "Save Image Sequence". That saves the movie as a series of pics. Then load those pics into your fave gif animation software (ImageReady for me or Fireworks for some) This is how I made my current avatar

colsoop
The way i do it is use video editing software to selct a suitable piece of film no more than about 20 secs. Save the film with dimensions of 100 x 100 pixels. Take the film clip to your gif animator (i use ulead) Then proceed to delete every other frame of the clip until you have got it down to about 12 frames. Then alter the speed to suit and compress it to make it under 20 k, the hard bit is maintaining image quality while lowering the clip to under the limits of the site so choose a film clip with only a few different colours. The 2 jun avatars i did were done with the above method.
terribleturner
OK, i've mastered taking some video and altering it. But now it's all done i can't seem to save it as a gif (using Fireworks) These are the options i'm given.... Also when i save it as a SWF file i can't upload it here.
