Branners
Quark is PC and Mac. Its shite though, seriously buggy. The guys in DMG Harrow are looking at InDesign which is part of the Adobe CS suite. You can then convert to highres PDF and send the artwork pretty much anywhere. If you start creating artwork using custom fonts and send it to a printers they may say they arent licenced for the font, but if you do a PDF then the whole layout is included and you dont get the font issue. Pete
InDesign is rapidly taking over from Quark. If you've used adobe products it's easy to use. Basically you need a combination of Photoshop to prepare your images at the correct res and colour format, Illustrator for vector art and InDesign to layout on the page. Hunt out the FAQs on the http://www.printing.com website as they tell you about page sizes, colour formats etc. Basically if you don't understand any of the above, maybe you should reconsider doing it yourself. Illustator is not a DTP.

Jake
Get yourself a good Photoshop guide Far. Else you'll be on here every 5 mins asking 'how do i do this' 'how do i do that'. It's not the most intuitive program but it's worth sticking with it - great app. One of the best ever in my book
