Aerotop Dave
I get 55Mb of webspace with my NTL account and I'd quite like to start using it for keeping pics on, etc. Now I only ever uploaded a single image about 7 years ago and for that I used the built-in Win98 client (or was it Win95?) so I've no idea what I'm doing really - can anyone recommend an idiot-proof, free FTP client doobry? NTL want £20 for theirs.
Jake
WS-FTP is free for home use. It's pretty good. I use FlashFXP which is excellent but not free. CuteFTP is good too.

Branners
but the password for your NTL web space is the ORIGINAL password NTL gave you and not a new one if you changed it at any point. If you just want a quick upload then open up ftp://[email protected] in to a browser and then put in your password. Quick and simple to use. and yes, NTL hide their actual FTP site details very well indeed. I found this page helped a bit http://www.chetnet.co.uk/articles/index.php?page=index_v2&id=9&c=4 JB

Aerotop Dave
That seems to have worked. Blimey, you weren't joking about the original password - I had to dig it out from 5 years ago.
Aerotop Dave
Okay, I've got the pic in there, but what's the address to it?
Branners
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/username/ you were in luck, the day before you asked the question I had to go through their technical support to get all this info along with my passwords etc. JB

Aerotop Dave
So why doesn't that work?
Aerotop Dave
It's definitely in there.
Branners
Two things, first one is you dropped it in a t_o_dave folder below your own space (which is already t_o_dave). So its now in http://homepage.ntlworld.com/t_o_dave/t_o_dave/ then the file you uploaded had UPPERCASE file extension (.JPG), the web server NTL use regards upper and lower case as being different characters and so doesnt find the image. this should work.. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/t_o_dave/t_o_dave/test.JPG which is http://homepage.ntlworld.com/t_o_dave/t_o_dave/test.JPG ALWAYS ALWAYS drop file names to lowercase before building a web page around them. Aerotop Dave
Ah right. Many thanks Mr B, I am off to bed now but will dabble some more tomorrow Edit: Okay, my work colleague (who I'm doing all this for) seems to now have access to his pics that I've stored on there so looks like it's all working. Excellent.
