jackso11
Ok...there are no lose bolts that i can find, no clunks or knocks, but when I start moving slow or fast the rear suspension creaks. Its coming from the drivers side. I opened the boot and checked for moving foam chunks, changed the boot rubbers and the noise is still there. if I have the boot open and jump up and sit on the rear wing I can hear the creak soming from the top of the suspension. Any ideas? I hope its not the bushes. Are there any points I can grease up around there? havent had the case off the top of the suspesion as I was doing this in Ikea car park. I don't like the noise....souds like something is going to snap!
RedM
Wow, that's weird. I have the same problem http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=51653 Having it looked at on Friday. I'll let you know what he finds.
SimonB
It could be the bushes on the anti-roll bar. You could try unbolting them and putting some white lithium grease on and bolting them up tight again.
jackso11
seems like your problem is quite similar. Let me know what the verdict is! Simon, where are the bolts located that need the lithium grease adding?
DShox
worn pillow bearin top mount? only a guess - might be worth getting a specialist to dismantle it and assess it.
SimonB
seems like your problem is quite similar. Let me know what the verdict is! Simon, where are the bolts located that need the lithium grease adding? The anti-roll bar is attached to the suspension at each side with a link and runs across behind the wheels. Where it is attached to the underside of the car on each side there is a metal bracket bolted to the underside with a rubber bush around the actual bar inside. The idea of the bar is that if both sides of the suspension compress both sides of the bar move up and it pivots around inside the bush. If one side only compresses it tries to twist the bar, which the bar resists. That's what stops the car rolling so much. If the bush is a bit perished or whatever it might creak when the bar pivots. So you can try unbolting the mount and putting some lithium grease between the rubber bush and the bar.
DShox
are you referring to rear drop links, which connect the anti roll bar to the wishbones? if so they cost £90 for two with bolts from any Toyota main dealer.
RedM
UPDATE: I took the car to an engineer guy yesterday. Seems that the problem it with the top mount thingy. The guy was practically lying in the boot as we drove along trying to pinpoint the location. The mount has a rubber piece inside which should be bonded to the metal. It has come loose and creaks/squelches under stress. Bloody annoying but not to hard to sort. Going back later this week to have a new mount installed and hopefully all should be well. Very thankful that the suspension doesn't need replacing. Eagle F1s alround now.

RedM
UPDATE: I've had the new top mount installed and it all seems okay. I had no noise on the journey home. Only got some squeaking when getting up onto our drive. Will keep an ear out over the next few days but I think all is well. Part numbers to follow if anyone needs one.
