Green Peace
Hi Can anyone reccomend a good set of HID lights? Just need the low beams! Have a set already but they kept going wrong, had them checked again and again. bulbs keep going pop...no obvious reason, apart from componant failure diagnosed in one of the units after an independant test by 'an award winning' technician (who I trust) Anyone know any good deals going on good qaulity units 'Phillips' or anything similiar? Cheers Si

toyotasuprauk
Can you not get bulbs for yours at a good price from anywhere? After spending out £600 already on HID I would not be happy to pay again.

Jake
It's a good point though. Where can you get replacement HID 'bulbs' (What is the correct word? Envelopes?) Did a quick search. Seems that autobulbsdirect.co.uk sell genuine Philips HID bulbs for £75 each. Not exactly cheap but we knew that.
Green Peace
Thanks Jake I just got home and read your reply..and just spat Stella all over the keyboard! so now I need a new computer, and its all your fault! (oh and by the way Stella..is a lager not a transvestite before you ask;) ) £75 aint bad really..I thought they were more! Thing is...they will just blow with the units I already have...So I figured it better to buy a new set complete with resistor units..Im just going to bin the ones I have as no use to man nor beast! Just wanted to know what others had bought and how they got on with them! a 1 year warrenty would be nice too. Ideas and suggestions???????? After spending out £600 already on HID I would not be happy to pay again. I could but they will just keep blowing, checked the sills on the lamp enclosures and god knows..everything..seems to be the resistor packs! (again) so me thinks new set...yep £600 down, not good but nev mind... (I'm so fed up with complaining) Which ones does Nic do?...there was a group buy wasn't there...If there are complete Phillips kits..that would be even better or any make where the lable is left on the units preferably!!!! Edit: Love to know where the other thread went where I was looking for bulbs, the one where Paul Whiffin shows his true colours!!! would be nice to be informed before my thread is removed

toyotasuprauk
Dont want to answer for Green but he did buy them new! They are just a very poor example of HID. I often wondered about taking the HID units out of say an Audi TT or whatever on the breakers yard but dont know how much they would charge for them? It would only be worth it if they were really cheap.

toyotasuprauk
You would have to find a car with a 9005 fitment that comes with HID as standard, lots of breakers would probably have the whole kit removed and ready to fit for you but its a lot of hassle.
