Terminator
I am currently running SO3 rears and have been very happy with them. Good control round corners, very predictable. I have F1’s up front and am very pleased with the FR combination. Great for chucking in and out of tight corners, it gives some of the local FWD boys something to think about. FYI stock 17" sizes. I am considering putting F1’s on the rear. Will this be a retrograde step ? Has anyone gone from SO3’s to F1’s on the rear, if so how did the tyres compare? Steve Cargill
Hi Phil, there are many thoughts on this one (hence the question probably). For wet coverage I think you put the F1's on the front and they move so much water you can put a dryer tyre on the back. I know Pirelli recomend different F/R tyres on some cars. Not sure what else you'd put on the rear though, the F1 is good wet and dry. I think that most modern tyres are similar in the dry, its the wet charactersisics that vary a lot. I've got F1's all round at the moment but have't really driven it yet. I don't think it would be retrograde, nothing much in it I'd say.
Alex
I believe the Pirelli system uses an assimmetrico(sp?) rear tyre P-0 Nero I think... It's on their web site...anyway they are designed to give good grip from standing starts and powering out of corners whilst the P-0-C Rosso's are at the front doing the steering..... However you asked about S-03 vs. F1. From the tests I've seen I believe the F1 to be a better tyre.. do these reviews help??? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+S-03+Pole+Position http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Eagle+F1+GS-D3
Terminator
Cheers Steve and Alex, the links were helpful. I had lost my link to Tirerack. As Steve said probably not much in it. Judging by the views of others on tirerack the F1's may have a slight edge. Close enough for me to give the F1's a try on the rear. I found a noticeable improvement on wet rear grip of my SO3's when I went from SO3 fronts to the F1's, as they shift so much water. Another bonus I think the F1's are cheaper too. Sharpie
Glad you started this one T, It's almost time for me to change my fronts and was thinking of changing all 4 at the same time. So, was going to ask about F1's v S03's as I feel these are in the top 3 or 4 types used on here.

Supra_Al
I'm using F1's and i'm very happy with wet /dry performance over other tyres i've had on the soop. Al.
wilfman
Currently running Firestone Firehark SZ40s on the rear. These are some seriously underated tyres and would recommend these everytime. Price wise they are good as well (mytyres.net has them at £102 incl VAT).
Bobbeh
Got my F1's for £99 each. Stock 17 size.. I am very happy with them.
Adam W
They've got F1's on? I definitely want them
Bobbeh
On the backs anyway, fronts are a cheaper brand that came with them.. I've been wanting to swap them too, but the damn things wont wear out
SkyJawa
I've always found the F1's to be the best tyres I've used, on 306GTi6, Impreza Turbo and my 205 GTi so I'll most likely get them fitted to the Supe. Evo's latest tyre test put the F1 GSD3 in 1st place, make of that what you will..................
Terminator
Thanks for the comments guys. I have been very happy with the SO'3 but it is time to move to F1's at the rear to give me an all round set up. I have read many good things about them but is good to hear comments from people using the same car. I'll let you know my verdict once I get my spare set of wheels back from Kevin. I hope I can get more than 6000 miles from the F1 rears.

(Always thought that there was better out there) - Looks like I can not go wrong with S03'/F1's. S03's & F1's have been getting good reports for some time now but, get the feeling that the F1's might just have it......... T, look forward to your report with MUCH interest
