Jake
I've seen a second hand HKS Fcon Pro V (Gold case) for sale. The seller doesn't know what version it is and says that the harness with it is not a Supra one. Do they make different models of the Pro V to fit different cars or is it the harness that is car-specific? (I presume the latter) Would this one with a non-Supra harness be any use to me on my 1993 RZ if I'm planning on going single at some point? supragold
I have a gold case Fcon pro v on my 93 single set up. Not sure if its just the harness thats different. The harness costs around £200 to £300 though I think but am not sure now.
Miguel
There are release versions on the gold one and the harneses are car specific. Oh and it V- pro;)
Jake
There are release versions on the gold one How can I tell which version this one is? Does it matter much? Is it pretty easy to update the firmware to the latest version? and the harneses are car specific. So this one with a non-Supra harness won't be any use with spending £Hundreds on a new harness? Miguel
How can I tell which version this one is? Does it matter much? Is it pretty easy to update the firmware to the latest version? It's printed on the PCB on the inside and updated firmware depends on A if the tuner has it( sometimes they discard the older so they can unlock if want to use it) and B the version number ..some erlier models wont take the later frimware ( well they will but loose features) So this one with a non-Supra harness won't be any use with spending £Hundreds on a new harness? Well you could hard wire it in, but thats a lot of soldering. Best get the harness as it is just plug up and go. And then if you want the rotary dials ect its more soldering. Can be done but try getting a wire diagram for an Fcon Vpro 1st. Edited due to me being a twat!

I was talking about updating the firmware to the newest possible version. Why would anyone want to install an older version?
Miguel
Huh? I was talking about updating the firmware to the newest possible version. Why would anyone want to install an older version? Sorry ass about face there i re-write Yes they can access the older if they have the software ( not discarded it and if it not pass word protected ) and updates depend on the Unit version, some of the older units wont take the newer software fully( thats what i meant to say the 1st time ) ie you loose some features. Sorry for the confusion ...thats the irish part of me Idealy you would be nice to find out who tuned it last that would give you a clue or ask the seller to look up the Version number and ring the HKS pro dealers. As for the loom they can be bought easily and they put the fields harness to shame by about 2 foot LOL.
