adi2009
Ok, what exactly does the sub-O2 sensor do??? Doesnt the ECU get the AFR reading from the Main O2 sensor itself?
Chris Wilson
It gives an after the cats O2 readings to the ecu.
adi2009
Thanks Chris, So after a decat etc would it really matter if you have a sub O2 sensor or not???

SimonB
I thought it was an ODB2 thing - for emissions reasons the ECU has to monitor the emissions systems and report a fault if they aren't working. In any case you have a Jspec so you haven't got a sub O2 sensor have you?

Pig
Same, all i know is mine is plugged in so would have thought its better to keep it. if there was no need then pheonix would not have put it in and the decat pipe would not have come with a place for it! adi2009
Why? As I say you haven't got one! Ya, havent got one. But then again I have to clarify this because I am NA-TT so want to make sure everything that matters is in place!
Chris Wilson
Thanks Chris, So after a decat etc would it really matter if you have a sub O2 sensor or not??? Yes, it MUST stay in situ, the ecu will not like it being either disconnected or hung out in fresh air, it DOES tolerate it reading the same as the 1st sesnor, however, so you need a second cat pipe with the boss for it, on UK / US spec MKIV's, like the ones i make. Chris Wilson
No, they only have one O2 sensor
