I believe the standard oil cooler sits behind the rad, it only cools the transmision oil, I might be wrong so correct me if I am, the standard dump valve bridges between the front 2 turbo pipes nearest the air filter box, it doesn't look like a dump valve should but its a small black valve.

Engine oil cooler is a liquid cooled jobbie on top of the oil filter. Tranny oil cooler is inside the bottom of the main radiator and the power steering cooler is a lenght of pipe in front of the air con condensor which should be visible through the front grill (unless you have a FMIC)

Ok guys i got a 93 Import GZ Auto ... just recently bought it and during the Full Service... noticed it has no oil cooler or factory fit dump valve.:faint:

I thought these models came with them??...or has the guy who had it in Japan taken them off???

Has an aftermarket BOV replaced the stock one? Post photo of your engine bay and we'll be able to identify if you have one at all.

Will post a pic of the engine bay as there is no aftermarket bov... will be soon tho ;)....

i thought the std (tranny) oil cooler would be visable through the passenger side front bumper vent (like the intercooler on the driver side) but i have nothing there??

On mine that's the engine oil cooler. AFAIK that was standard.

Yes it would - I ringed the re-circ on the inlet side - that means unfiltered air entering the turbos. There's no MAF sensor, so it must be J-spec, which means this is perfectly possible.

The re-circ outlet _appears_ to be plumbed back into the airbox pipe.

Still need to know the answer to James's question.

Just checked the hose and its been capped off, ummmm so whats the benefit of doing that?

Depends whose question you are answering there!

If it was mine, then capping the pipe means no dirty air can get to the turbos, and you definitely don't have a stock recirculating BOV.

If it was James's question, then you've got a capped off vacuum pipe...achieving sweet FA. I would have thought that pipe would run down to an atmospheric BOV mounted directly on a boost pipe. If it's capped and going nowhere, you may not have a BOV - not necessarily a bad thing, but it puts your turbos at risk of stalling under boost on the overrun - the excess boost pressure isn't going into the engine because you're off throttle, can't vent to atmos with no BOV, so it goes back past the turbos, stressing them badly.

So, which pipe did you check on? ;)

I'll have to check where that hose is going.... but i've posted a couple of extra pics if it helps:blink:

oooh and the question i was answering was James's, i followed the pipe and it's just tucked up in the wing with a cap on the end of it.

so i guess there's no bov??

sorry i cant answer your questions but i can give a bit of advice.

when i serviced my supra pipes were found to be missing or blanked off similar to your car. refit everything to standard including airbox if poss and you will notice a huge improvement like i did. why do people do these things unless they are a proven mod?

I bet this car is losing performance from all these 'mods' and 'improvements'.

Who wants to bet that all those cable-ties are meant to stop the intake pipe from 'balooning' under boost, so now it's got less lag and *even* more direct throttle response.

Oh dear.

But hey, it's modified, that's all that counts right?:D

That's really odd. So can you hear a dump valve out of intrest when you release the throttle?? Maybe take some video of the engine while revving it up.

As others said i'd definatly think about getting one installed (stock/aftermarket) and maybe look into getting some hard pipes to replace the rubber cable tied one.
