Hak
Hi guys, Im new to this site and supra's & would appreciate some advice and tips on the best way to fit a standard rear spoiler. I guess my biggest concern is drilling the holes in the wrong place...etc. Also, there seems to be two bolt positions either side as well as a spike and some other holes. Any ideas what these are for? Nice1
SupraHuman
first you have to align in the wing to where you want it to sit.make a template of stiff paper(carboard) to fit the end's of your wing.use the template to mark the holes on your hatch.if you put masking tape where you want to drill your holes it will give you a better grip of your drill bit.start with a pilot hole and work your way up to the right diameter to suit the bolts.undo the plastic cover on the inside of your rear hatch and fit your nuts.use a washer as well. hope this helps. and welcome by the way... Hak
Cheers. Have you done this before? Any ideas about the two spikes and holes, and will the spoiler rattle even if fitted properly? thanks
SupraHuman
i've fitted a gtc-300 wing on mine.dont know about your spike though.i assume its for stability. It will not rattle if fitted properly.i used a bit of a old rubber inner tube between the wing and the hatch to protect the paint. Pete
From memory (and someone please confirm this) there's a plastic "jobby" that inserts into the body work halfway between the bolt holes. The spikey bits fit into this. It seems to be more of a location device than anything for production. I don't think any aftermarket spoilers have them. I'd snap them off and forget about them as you're not likely to carve a hole just right for the yellow plastic socket jobbies. As for rattling I found our aircon people had some nice sticky backed foam which was nice an thin to stick under the spoiler and should help keep water ingress at a minimum. TrickTT
If its a stock spoiler, Mr T sells the foam gaskets that sit between the spoiler and the hatch, only about a fiver each from memory, and they have the holes precut in the right place.
