jackso11
I am looking to get a new cam belt but toyota near me say they won't touch my car as its a jap spec! The place they recommend cost £310!!! Terry at pheonix quoted me £240, but looking on here some of you have had it done for £145. Where can I go to get it done at around that price? I am based on london. cheers!
Keith C
Phone up Toyota GB and complain about them. I wouldn't use them, as they obviously don't want to work on your car, but you can at least get them in trouble.
jackso11
Just called Toyotas head office and they told me the garage was correct and don't need to work on my car if they don't want to.

lust2luv
IIRC Toyota changed their policy a number of years ago to say that dealerships had to accept work on imports, their head office will be interested to hear your experience. Not that I'd take it there anyway.
Mike
A bit of a trip down the A3 for you but I got mine done at Toyda Tech in Fareham for, I think, £130.. and their services are ace too (they even changed the battery in my immobiliser/alarm key fop!) and gave me a Toyota service book and stamped it.... I can't fault them...

Jake
I'd take it to Phoenix if I couldn't do it myself. It may be a little dearer than some back street garage but at least you know they'll do it right.
Digsy
A cambelt change is about £160 from a main Toyota dealer. So Toyota UK reckon they are in the right then? That's diabolical.
jackso11
I got a quote from another Toyota dealer, £272! Terry, you are right is was Mark AND Paul. Spoke to mark first, missed his call back, the Paul filled me in on the price. Is £240 really the best you can do there? I know Pual said he will drain and refill my rad too.....but if it knocks £100 of the price I will gladly drain it for you! and fill it back up when your done. lol Can't you get near the Toyoda Tech price? I know I can trust you, Matt Harwood told me how good you are. (He tried to get some workshop time a couple of weeks ago to fit an alarm....mine )

BTW if you are doing comparisons you should get a price for the fan belt!
jackso11
I would have done. I only asked for a price for a cambelt though. Thats all I wanted to change.

Need4Speed
Which Toyota dealer? I've used Currie Motors in Isleworth for parts and would classify them as very helpful. In fact I've never had a problem with any Toyota dealer. Come on - name the guilty party.

jackso11
Thats what i thought. It is an import car specialist. You even get the option to speak to someone Japanese or english when you call them up!
Need4Speed
The reason I ask is Currie Motors asked me why there were so many Supras about but they never saw them in their workshops. I accept dealers are expensive, but for parts I can't fault them - UK or J-spec.

tobyg
My UK Supra has a receipt for a Timing belt change at a Jemca PLC, It's a different branch. It's a 'B' service and timing belt change. £174.28 Goods £557.94 Labour £860 total inc vat Though it's dated 2001, seems steep compared to those prices.
