680cc and Fuel controller questions...

Hello, I've read alot about using the 650 Direct Fit High Impedence Injectors and differents way of managing them. I like the idea of just dropping them in my J-spec fuel rail and just getting either a fuel controller of some sort. My mods are as follows:

Stock J-spec setup w/ECU

Walbro 255 fuel pump

Restrictor plate set at 16-17 psi (depending on temp)

4" FMIC

K&N Intake

Decatted with 3" DP and Super Dragger Exhaust

Greddy Boost Cut Controller

SP Built Auto w/3800 stall

My concerns are running lean up top. So I'm thinking of putting some 650cc injectors in and then getting a fuel controller - but WHICH ONE? My goal in the future is right around 500-550 rwhp. What would you guys advise on acheiving this kind of horsepower but making sure that I will be running a safe setup now??? Future goal is to go Single - BL's T61 or T67 (that's what my mechanic is in love with...) What should I do now to prepare for the future and also help my current setup? Thanks.

You may have some problems trimming down 650cc injectors for use with the stock twins. Well maybe its possible to run on stock twins with a Greddy e-manage or anything upwards but I doubt an SAFC would be able to trim that much fuel. If your going for 500-550rwhp with a BL61 or BL67 the 650cc injectors should be ideal!

I have 680cc injectors on stock twins, with FPR and e-manage blue, running fine. The 680's are a little big for the stock turbos, got them with a view to going single, but plans got put on hold. 550cc would be better choice for stock turbos.

650's will run a T67 up to 1.4bar of boost, more if you push the static pressure up and/or run less rich AFRs than I do. That'll get you your rwhp target. A T61 won't be far behind, there isn't much in it between them. An E-Manage, as Nic says, can run stock turbos on 650's, and it can run the single as well

You may well have some problems using 650s with the stock turbos in normal sequential mode. That's because in order to trim the fueling back you will have to scale the airflow signal with a blue Emanage. So for example at 1 BAR the ECU will see say 0.7BAR and therefore use less duty cycle on the injectors so you'll end up with the correct fueling.

However, the transition between turbo 1 and both turbos being online relies on the ECU opening the EGBV to pre-spool the 2nd turbo. It does this progressively depending on boost. So if you've scaled the boost signal it will open the EGBV later which could result in you overboosting on the first turbo and the 2nd not coming in properly. This is what happened to me when I did this because I run more than normal fuel pressure, and I scaled it less than you would need to for 650s.

Of course you could get round this by running in parallel, but then you lose all the advantages of the sequential system.

Keep the advice coming, but my next step is going to be purchasing a Wideband Kit. I have to make sure I'm not running lean. I've worked hard to do this swap and would hate to blow something up cause I didn't take the necessary precautions. But it looks like the eManage Blue is the way to go. And it's cheap, if not cheaper than the SAFCII.

Innovative Wideband, eManage Blue, and then either 550's or 650's High Impedence - How's that sound?
