Blewn Turbo

Recommended Posts

Had my car on the dyno at the weekend getting the e-manage set up after the engine rebuild. We'd done a number of power runs, getting everything tweaked, when on one of the final runs one of the turbos went bang and spat its internals out the exhaust!

I think I'm going to replace with a pair of stage 4 hybrids from Leon, has anyone got these fitted and can give me some feedback? Or any other advice comments?

I'll also fit bigger injectors at the same time, what size is recommended?

cheers

Yeah, more expense!! an excuse to get some more power though ;)....

It was running at 1.25bar and doing around 350bhp at the wheels before it went bang, I think it was the multiple power runs to the redline that pushed the limits too far, I'd been running for about a year at 1.3bar with correct fuelling mix and had no problems.

cheers

550's to 680's are what you need injector wise. Make sure your pump is upto it :)

If you get High impedance injectors they can be dropped in and then configured via the e-manage.

This means no chopping of the wiring loom. However low impedance and high impeadence injectors react differently. Low impedance ones are better - but there isn't much in it in our state of tune....

I've just had my Delphi injectors delivered for my Mk3. 680cc and 60% of the price of the equivalent RC/Greddy/Blitz etc.

There's a chap on supraforums Called Dave Henry who gets hold of them and modifies them slightly so that they fit the Mk3 or Mk4 as required, I think his user name is DaveH. Took him two weeks to get them to me.
