Jake
I need a new digital camera, not fussed about 10 megapixel or suchlike but reasonable movie quality recording with sound would be nice. I need a new PDA for Sat Nav (TomTom3 probably, TT5 sucks) I could do with a new mobile phone. Not that I use mobiles much. £20 PAYG lasts me like 3 months. So, what would be a good choice for something that combines all the above? I remember before when I was thinking about this there was an o2 phone/PDA/Camera that seemed to fit the bill for about £250. I forget what it was called. Anyone know of anything else that would fit the bill? Thanks
Pixelfill
You could get something like the Sony Ericsson P910 that has a camera and is a symbian based bluetooth PDA too. you could then get TT3 for symbian. However I had a P800 which kept crashing, so I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending one. It was a really good phone when it worked, just hated losing my contacts when it crashed. I think the O2 phone you're thinking of is the XDA. afaik it's based on Windows Mobile 2003. Mike
Jake
Ah yes, XDA II, that's the one I was thinking of. That was like 6+ months ago but it seems to fit the bill. I was wondering if there was something newer/better that had come out recently. Looks like the XDAii does what I want though.
terribleturner
jake i've got the spv2000 which i belive is similar to the XDA. Great PDA and quite good with web pages but when i run tomtom it when used for long periods. Also the camera isn't anything to write home about. If i were you i'd play with one before commiting. I'm only interested in the PDA bit for the Sat Nav functionality (TTNav or whatever)
michael
I have the XDA IIi - it's a great PDA but a poor phone and a really terrible camera. They have just brought a new one out, the XDA Exec, still the same res as the one I have, no idea if they have sorted out the camera software though. http://www.my-xda.com When it's working this is a handy site: http://forum.xda-developers.com I think I'm going to go for a Mio A701 next: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/25/mio_a701_exposed/
terribleturner
I missed the word "crashes" out it seems As in it crashes on long periods of use. Went from West London to Devon (Barnstaple) and it crashed about 4 or 5 times towards the end of the journey
Todd
i-mate jam myself, as a PDA it's great, TT5 works just fine on it, also great as a phone and used it for the past year now with no problems. but As a camera it's just acceptable and nothing else, pictures are very grainy ad nothing to show at the family get together. I love it because it does so much but it's really small http://www.izzetzorlu.com/2005/Mar/29/i-mate-jam.jpg And no I've not got a really big hand
CJ
Is there an equivalent to the XDA2 that will work on the Vodafone network?
Gamer
I have the O2 XDAII and use it with bluetooth TT5 sat nav, I also use a bluetooth phone headset. Both the sat nav and phone work fine for me... I would not leave home without it.
Gamer
Forgot to add, the camera is a bit lacking but that was not really what I bought it for.
SkyJawa
I'd personall get a separate one of each, the combos are all compromised. I'd get Tom Tom Go as you can upload the speed camera DB, a pocket sized 5Meg camera (Sony Ixus or Pentax Optio etc), and a basic phone....... Go to www.phones2Udirect.co.uk or www.expansys.com and check out the rest of the i-Mate range. They's added two more upgrades to the JAM recently. The JAM Charcoal has 126Mb memory as opposed tot he normal 64Mb and is a nicer colour. The K-JAM has a slide out QWERTY keyboard. If you can handle the extra size, there is the JAS-JAR (daft name) which is pretty much a pocket sized laptop. I'm tied into an 18 month contract with my JAM. I'll probably get a K-JAM when it expires.

terribleturner
I'm not a limewire user myself if you just search for tom tom navigation where you'd usually search for files it should come up. You'll also need to get a gps reciever.
