SimonB
A question for you single turbo peeps. Pretty much all the single kits I've seen seem to come with a downpipe that mates up to a custom midpipe. Why is this? Why not a downpipe that mates up with the normal stock midpipe flange? Presumably the custom one means you can't put the second cat back in for MOT purposes, so what do you do then? Or have I misunderstood and the kit downpipes actually do this anyway? Steve
Thats a good question mate. Would like to know that myself. By the way got my sd card sorted for my profec controller. Thanks for the offer of your spare one.Cheers
Soonto_HAS_soop
That's something that I had noticed, so I bought an SS Autochrome one which mates up to the second CAT pipe.
LeeT
most kits do mate up to the existing midpipe:thumbs: the boostlogic kit comes with a new midpipe too
JohnK
My BL kit mated up to the first cat / pipe. However since upgrading to Arnouts manifold I have had a custom pipe made that meets with the second cat / pipe made by a company in Southampton for a reasonable price in true 3" unlike most decat pipes ive seen. SimonB
My BL kit mated up to the first cat / pipe. However since upgrading to Arnouts manifold I have had a custom pipe made that meets with the second cat / pipe made by a company in Southampton for a reasonable price in true 3" unlike most decat pipes ive seen. I'm looking into the whole single thing at the mo, and the Arnout manifold is what I'd go for, especially after having a look at yours the other day. So I'd have to have a downpipe custom made, I was just wondering if there would be issues making it meet up with the normal position for the 2nd cat/ decat pipe, and maybe that was why the kits came with their own midpipes. It was Stealth Systems you used wasn't it? If I go down this route I was thinking of getting them to make up the various pipework I'd need. JohnK
Simon It was Stealth systems, and they would have no problem getting it to meet up to any existing pipe. Having said that space is very tight meeting with the first cat, more so on a UK spec due to a bigger flange, and I see no advantage to doing this. The second cat is the easier one to replace for MOT's. Your welcome to have a closer look at my setup any time you wish.
eyefi
i think arnout has a downpipe for his manifold now, might be worth checking with him before geting custom stuff unless you want an oddball size. his was a recirc wastegate as well.
