Build a Tiger like mine! Bargain on ebay

Pete - Did you build yours? how long did it take, what sort of extra costs on top of what matey is offering would there be?

Yes

About 18 months

It's up to how good you want the build to be. I spent lots extra on better quality lights, full dial set, ported head, cams, spa mirrors, aldon ignition and other misc bits and bobs. Tools were expensive as I didn't have many.

It would probably cost you at least another grand I'd have thought.

Its very cool.. What engine do you have in yours Pete?

205 block Pinto (as used on Cosworths)

Vulcan Stage 2 pinto head,

new standard valves,

Ported,

Kent RL31 camshaft kit,

Road/Rally 2.7k - 7.5k, Valve Lift 12.7 in / 12.4 ex, Duration 304/297

double valve springs,

Kent vernier pulley,

Block

Vizard book recommended 0.050 off block to raise compression from 9.9:1 standard.

I chose 0.020 off the block to raise the compression slightly with a felpro gasket (0.010) to give 0.030 = 10.5:1

standard gasket = 1.63mm, Felpro - 1.0mm

Crank Polished

honed the cylinders

degreased and painted

new bearings

new rings

new gasket set

high pressure oil pump

shortened sump

Aldon ignitor ignition and flamer coil. New Bosch dizzy (how rare and much!?).

Twin Webber 45s

RR = 147bhp I'm certain there's more in there as it's still not setup and running quite right.

Very nice indeed.

I have it stored in a text file for such questions :D

Yes - the price did rocket a little didn't it?

I suspect it was bid up by a mate or something.

Shovels - Don't think about it - Do it!

Or better still - buy my Westfield....

Westfield SE, 135 BHP crossflow (in this roller skate it goes) twin webbers, etc etc.

RED - QUICK - LOUD...

Need garage space and just don't use (as Soo's Supe is better ) !!!

Think I will get about £4,500 for it in the spring..........

Me build a car - and then drive it :woot: not on your life...

I have always just loved the Lotus 7 type cars from when I was young.

Bought one about twenty years ago that I had for a long time until my garage (and car) burnt down !

Got another the same, but beter, and had ever since.

The trouble is that for years it was the bees knees and could out drag most cars in the area (up to 70-90 anyway), then...

Soo got the Supe :) :) :)

Now it just doesn't seem the same, and I've had them for so long I just don't get the same buzz looking at it in the garage.

They are brill fun on the twisties though....
