TLicense Posted November 6, 2005 Share Posted November 6, 2005 There has also been some interesting side discussions about possible weakness in the structure of the composite monococque of some of the later model Ferraris causing them to split apart at the bulkhead under severe impacts such as this. Even if true, I can't see how this would have made any difference to the outcome of this accident though. I wonder if ferrari have started to employ the tactic of sheding weight in an accident as an attempt to remove energy in an accident? If you can get rid of the engine (the signle most heaviest component in pretty much any car) that's a lot of energy taken out of the car, which you would otherwise still be connected to.
