Thomas Posted June 8, 2003 Share Posted June 8, 2003 Several mechanics have tried, without success, to find the cause of a most annoying rattle/knocking on my 1993 Supra non-turbo. It has only 35k miles on clock and I imported it from Jp 4 years ago. Rattle/knocking is not only audible but can be felt through one's backside especially at low speeds over an uneven surface. It's very difficult to find out where it comes from. Obviously, its not the shock absorbers. Any ideas out there? Thomas Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Willson Posted June 8, 2003 Share Posted June 8, 2003 Have you checked the anti-roll bar link pins. One of mine is shot making a knock, that I can feel (!) over uneven surfaces at low speeds. Supra_Al Posted June 9, 2003 Share Posted June 9, 2003 I know it may sound strange.....but it could be your tailgate rubbers 'knocking'. Had this problem myself like most others on this Board, it really does sound like it's a suspension noise.I even had a mate lay in the stripped out boot looking for the noise as you describe! A quick temp fix,that will not cost any cash, is to fit a sticky pads to the top mount rubbers.As i said i had this and it drove me mad! Worth a try,....give it a go. Al. Thomas Posted June 9, 2003 Author Share Posted June 9, 2003 I understand tailgate rattle is very common. Mine used to rattle and we fixed it, but it seemed a different rattle and squeaking noise.
