Alex
Roughly how much does it cost to get a head ported and polished? Hourly rate of a trained engineer/company? How long would it take, hours, days, weeks??? Any idea's?????? Personally I haven't the foggiest
Phil Wall
That really depends on who does the work, you could get a monkey with a Dremil to do it for £200. But someone who knows what they are doing will want to match it to the cylinders and surrounding pipe work, so I would guess at least double. I have a contact who has offered to do mine, I could ask the question for you.
Gareth Davies
Geez I thought to do this properly would be thousands not hundreds. If Phils guy can do a top job for £400 then i'm sold  Mind you I guess I could save £375 and go buy a dremil and do it myself. Oh sorry and the £10 for the "Idiots guide to advanced engine head work". How much did that second hand engine cost ya Ian? Might be needing one
Steve Cargill
I assume that you are excluding taking the head off and putting it back on - about 10-15 hours work...... Alex, all these posts, Heads, Cams, Brakes - new job going well
Phil Wall
I am estimating, based on other head work he has done for me, based on time in his hands only, the rest, strip and rebuild is up to you. I am considering a long diy project on a spare head.
