Guest spr
Hi every one I have been having problems starting the Supra for tha last couple of weeks (ya know the clik clik cliking noise) got a new battery from Halfords, still the same problem. So now I am thinking about removing the starter motor, and taking it to Lucas to be fixed. Only thing is I can remove the two long bolts keeping it in place, but there is a wire attached to the back of the unit and I am not to sure what to do. Do the wires unplug? if so where do they unplug from? or do I pull the motor out or the metal casing? I need to do this myself as the motor will not start now and is stuck on my drive. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. P.S. Bear in mind that this is on a SZ Supra so may be a different set up than on a TT.
TrickTT
There is 2 wires, a big one direct from the battery which unbolts and a smaller one which is a push fit plug. Once you've got it removed, do a search on here for "starter motor". Its an easy fix and will cost you about £
Guest spr
Thanks for the fast reply. At the moment been doing all the work from above the engine and can only make out one large wire going into the unit. Am I going to need to jack the car to carry out the job? TrickTT
you need to be under the car to get the starter motor out. Replacing the contacts in the solenoid is a 15 min job. There's detailed instructions on here somewhere
