Scarface GTti
I have a 1GB memory card that is a Sony one. I managed to copy a fair few MP3 files from my laptop onto it but suddenly its started saying that its write protected and won`t accept any files. It says to remove the write protection from it. Any ideas? As usual i`m bloody clueless!
Pixelfill
Probably a stupid question, but is it write protected, there's a dip switch on the bottom side of the memory stick. Is it a Duo or a full length one? Mike
Scarface GTti
It`s a Duo. There`s a switch? I can`t see anything.
Pixelfill
My bad , duos don't have the switch. only the full length ones. as for your problem, I don't know what it could be, you could try formatting it? don't know whether that would help. Pixelfill
actually scrub that, some duos do have the write protect switch, whether it's Duo Pro or Magic Gate that don't. I'll attach a piccy in a mo of my Duo that does. Mike
Scarface GTti
Mine doesn`t have that. I`ve tried formatting it a few times and it`ll accept a certain amount of info and then just starts on with the write protection thing?
Lucifer
The lock is software based. Download the memory stick utility
Scarface GTti
I don`t quite understand? Do you mean there is something i can download to sort this out? Thanks

Scarface GTti
Any chance of a clue? I`ve looked all over but just can`t find a solution. I`ve downloaded the Sony format program but this doesn`t make any difference. When you format it tells you to unwrite-protect. I`m pulling my hair out here! Pixelfill
Sorry bud, In the absence of jay-450 I've tried scouring the net for you, I can't find anything either. It seems that this is a fairly common problem, but no one seems to have posted a solution (what has everyone else done with their cards ) It seems to be a problem with removing the card when it's being accessed. Hopefully I haven't knackered mine too. What device is your MS Duo for, some have suggested formatting it on a PC and then formatting it on the target device as a potential solution. Though no conclusive recommendations. Good Luck Jay help the man out ... Mike

Pixelfill
Just found this - might this article be an explanation. Your card might not actually be faulty might just be incompatible Are you using a VAIO and PSP-MP1G, a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo card Mike
Scarface GTti
Well lads i`ve tried everything and still the f***ing thing doesn`t work. It`s a card i bought off Nic to go with the PSP but because that had a busted battery when it got here i thought i`d use the card to fill up with MP3 for my k750i to use while i`m working away. Looks like i might have something else to send back as nothing seems to get the bloody thing to work. I`m just off to Turkey to work for a couple of weeks so if anyone thinks of anything i`ll give it another go when i get back!
