I've rang the helpdesk once and they weren't the best but thankfully you don't need to call them much. I think its £23 for 1mb with no caps which seems a bit expensive. Only if your DVD player supports DivX playback. Mine does but it was bought specifically for that feature. You can convert avi/DivX files to DVD on your PC and then play them on a vanilla DVD player but it's time consuming. Otherwise you're stuck with watching them on your PC. Stonkin Posted November 1, 2005 Share Posted November 1, 2005 Guys, I have no phone line or internet connection at home. i've been reading so many sites for the last couple of days that i now dont know what to go for. I dont want a phone at home but obviously understand i need a phone line so am likely to order a BT phone line in a minute for £75. Do i then just order broadband from BT or someone else? I'm looking to spend about £25 (although work will be paying for this each month plus the installation fee) and would ideally like an unlimited service, which BT dont seem to do, although i would think 20Gb may be ok. The actual bandwidth that you will receive is based on three factors: the length of the wire that connects your premises with the BT exchange, the quality of the copper, and signal interference from other users or devices. If the quality of the copper is perfect, and there is no line noise, you will receive 24 megs up to a kilometre from the exchange. If your line is two kilometres long then you can expect to receive up to 15 megs. Your bandwidth will decrease further as line length increases, and we do not offer our service if you are further than 5.5 kilometres from the exchange.
