Guest mugenzi
Hi all, Looking to put a deposit on my first Supra today (yay!), and have found these forums extremely helpful in my research - Thank you all! I had one question which I thought someone here may be able to answer: what is the tubing/piping visible in the air intake in the photo below? http://www.mugenzi.com/gallery_images/2005/291005/small-013.jpg I haven't seen these on any Supras I've seen before, so I thought I'd offer this up to the fount of all knowledge that is mkivsupra.net! RobSheffield
it appears to be the power steering fluid cooler. i may be wrong!
Guest mugenzi
Thanks for the quick response Rob - do many Supras have this in this location?
RobSheffield
it generally depends on wether a front mounted intercooler (FMIC) has been fitted. many of the aftermarket FMIC units include a new Power Assisted Steering (PAS) cooling pipe, which gets mounted behind the intercooler....and if it is mounted behind the intercooler, you cant see it
Guest mugenzi
Hmm... it's an NA, so won't have a FMIC.
Guest mugenzi
Any other thoughts?
RobSheffield
If its an NA you are looking at then you will see the PAS cooler. I was only talking about FMIC because you asked if it is visible on all cars. I have an FMIC, so you cant see it on mine!
Guest mugenzi
Thanks Rob!
Soonto_HAS_soop
I have an FMIC on mine, so I moved my PAS cooler. If you don't like it, then get a new one for it, as mine was black when I took it off, the same for the other items higher up on the left. Just spray them a dark colour and they will not be so noticeable.
merckx
It's visible on all standard Supra's, NA & TT.

SupraStar 3000
buy some mesh from Halfrauds and fill the gap. I bought a pre-made grill to cover the area from here: http://www.grille-tech.com/

dangerous brain
And a quick tip on getting that lower lip spoiler back to black is use a little used engine oil on it, gets rid of that nasty greying and lasts a lot longer than any products you can buy and doesn't produce the sticky finish. You could try the same thing on the power steering cooling pipe as well as I think its plastic coated.

Guest mugenzi
What a brilliant community! I'm very grateful for all your help, and am this morning the proud new owner of a 93 J Spec NA. I'll try the used oil trick on the spoiler lip and let you know... What are my options for clearing the headlamps? http://www.mugenzi.com/gallery_images/2005/291005/small-012.jpg
SupraStar 3000
Ace car mate. Love the wheels. What make are they? Look like my Kosei Sniper's Lights can be opened using a cooker to brake the seal and cleaned or pay some else to do it. (do a search and you'll find plenty of information) ......... or you could buy new glass lights like myself.
dangerous brain
If you do cook em be very carefull. You wouldn't be the first to melt the plastic by putting them in too long or too hot.
