See now for some reason the authorities in the US think that it's dangerous to start a car without the clutch down and hence all manual cars in the US have to have a safety circuit built in whereby you can only start the car with the clutch down. Suprash Posted June 1, 2003 Share Posted June 1, 2003 Why be a dumb arse and leave the thing in gear then. And I dont want everyone giving it "but if your on a hile, etc, etc..." So do people here generally leave the manuals in gear, I dont, know one I know does, except my Mum and Dad, forever doing it, and then I come behind, move their car, and jump and the turn of the key, very annoying.
