Well park the front of your supe about 2 inches away from a brick wall, switch off the engine place transmission in first, put foot on clutch and start the car. See everythings fine ?

Now switch off the engine, put on your best red neck accent on and try the same without putting your foot on the clutch.

See now for some reason the authorities in the US think that it's dangerous to start a car without the clutch down and hence all manual cars in the US have to have a safety circuit built in whereby you can only start the car with the clutch down.

In the UK, well they credit us with a little more intelligence.

Why be a dumb arse and leave the thing in gear then.

And I dont want everyone giving it "but if your on a hile, etc, etc..."

So do people here generally leave the manuals in gear, I dont, know one I know does, except my Mum and Dad, forever doing it, and then I come behind, move their car, and jump and the turn of the key, very annoying.
