Hi

Any ideas what this is, happend recently and now seems ok

Basically when i started the car the ABS light stayed on which locks the gearbox and stopped the power stearing from working causing me problems to drive

The ABS light eventually went off and the power steering came back but then the slip diff light that tells you that its off kept flashing so you couldnt overrid the slip diff anymore

5 mins later that flashing stopped and all back to normal?

Ta!

If your ABS fails all that happens is the warning light comes on, it doesn't affect any other systems. Sounds like the ABS light is a symptom, not the problem. Could it be a dodgy speed convertor? That might affect the amount of power steering assistance, although it wouldn't cause it to fail completely.

nope!

....my solution

I stop the car....set the alarm....undo the alarm...start up car again.......and the important part...flick the auto over to drive as quick as i can esp over the reverse position - and the car works perfectly again...for some reason if it hits reverse it does it again!!!

happens more when car has been switched off cold..as in going from petrol straight from home (a 500m drive)

hope this works for you
