Simon
Has anyone sourced uprated boot struts to cope with the weight of heavier spoilers. My umbrella is getting knackered and it bloody well hurts when it slips and my head is used as a bump stop by the boot lid.

Simon
I'll just have to nick the bonnet struts of my wifes Mk3 and try those. Hehe.

Steve W
Mine's ALWAYS falling down ! ! I'd assumed they were just old ? DO they tend to drop anyway ? (I was just about to buy two new Toyota ones, but what's the point if they do it anyway ???) If that's the case, some sort of cane/rod with rubbers (oooh errr) on each end might be best.....if a bit unsightly:sly:
Flavio
Check if they are fitted the right way. I once fitted them backwards and the lid kept dropping on my head as well. Steve W
.....I once fitted them backwards .... errrr, do you mean UPSIDE-DOWN or ROUND-WRONG-WAY ? ?
Flavio
Upside down. The shiny part that comes out of the strut should be on the car's side if you know what I mean. I have had no problems with the RMM rear wing which weighs 5kg compared to the 3kg of the stock rear wing. Flavio

mos
Rather than change both simple undo the fixing and then try pushing them in one at a time by hand, you will be able to easily tell which one is duff. I had my boot dropping all the time and changed the one strut and what a difference, it almost opens itself now. You wont believe how much the boot weighs without the strut assistance though. mos
Oh fogot to add it is a complete nightmare to get to the two bolts that hold each strut in on the car side. Its almost a total strip down of the trim starting with the lower (speaker area) and part of the boot trim. Thats also why its better to check which one has gone, saves time and money, bargain
Steve W
now THAT'S a BLOODY good idea mate:) That's gotta be 'SENSIBLE THOUGHT of the YEAR' ! ! It's only like normal shocks really, you only really need to change the duff one of those - but for handling's sake you have to do both ! No earthly reason if only one's gone that you need to do TWO !
Suprash
Because knowing Toyota they only sell them as a pair !!!!!!
matt
Top Tip Keep a small pair of mole grips in the boot ........ open hatch and clamp on the strut
