Pete
"Churchill drove to Swansea 'to look at some girls" - LOL 7 years - wow that's pretty bad. The f*cker that mowed down my cousin in a bus lane had no insurance, no tax, no mot and legged it from the scene of the crime and got less than that. Kopite
As Pete says, smaller sentances have been given. Think it's because they'd been to a club event, the judge is tryin to make an example out of them. At the end of the day, people died though BUT (and bear with me, i'm only half awake) were they speedin? Says upto 70mph on a dual carriageway and the bus pulled out? Kopite
Just says it was a dual carriageway in the article "He suggested Churchill was overtaking Antonio's BMW when he saw the mini bus pulling across the Fabian Way dual carriageway and worked out that if he blocked Antonio in the inside lane he would have to brake hard"

peter richards
hi guys , the junction in question is the turn off into where i live , the accident happened about 300 yards from the house. it is a dual carriage way, thats where i got my speeding fine 30 mph beleive it or not , main road out of swansea, just after the turn off it increases to 50mph . but its a nice straight road , and you can see what has happened these guys were obviously having a race , but the mini bus has to cross the road to enter st thomas .the bang was very loud from the impact ,sad end to a night out for the people involved :thumbdown

CJ
Who would their 18 year old son drive their M3? I just bought my son a Yaris - and I worry about him driving that. There is no way I would allow him to drive anything like the M3.
Green Peace
a very sad story... One of the reasons I dont bother...'acting the fool' in built up areas! Just imagine what went through their minds when they were racing...the adreneline, the pumping music, the loss of respect if you dont win..happens to us all...its like a drug and it takes you over and you lose sight of reality... Almost any of us could be faced with this situation, I have done really nutty things..this kind of 'reality Wake Up Call' just shows us all what could in fact happen in the worse case scenario...after a unique set of unlucky circumstances....when we all are capible of losing sight of reality! If the bus had left late of early fine...if the bus driver had looked and seen them, or infact if the two Street Racers hadn't been so charged up with adreneline then im sure in normal circumstances they would of 'Anticipated' things a little better! I didn't like the way the words 'Arrogance' and 'he'd just dropped his girlfriend off and was off to look at others' were used by the prosicution!!!! I have heard of premeditated Murderers getting less time..I dont believe these people actually set out to intentionally kill anyone...and was due to their age, and stupidity...so I think the sentencing is fair..but obviously I wouldn't think that if it was a relative of mine that was a victim! I hope we can all learn from this though!!!! Very sad Si

Pig
Agreed CJ, who would put an 18 yr old in an M3. Im only 20 in the soop, sometimes i have to do a little reality check and realise that i should be 25 to be in this. Thankfully i have the maturity not to race to the limit. I love to race but i never take a risk... would much rather lose, loss of respect or not. Problem is parents have no control over their kids any more. guy near me killed himself hours after passing his test in his saxo vtr. Quick for a 17yr old. He saved for it himself.... what could his parents do.
toyotasuprauk
Its not just the jail time, imagine thinking about those people you killed every day. Driving any car let alone a fast one takes a lot of responsibility. Pretty sad story.
Jake
Agreed CJ, who would put an 18 yr old in an M3. Yeah, good point CJ. I wish I'd thought of that 17yr old. He saved for it himself.... what could his parents do. I bet he still lived with his parents. You don't lose control over you kids when they still live in your house. tbourner
70mph? Wow! M3s are fast then aren't they!! Lucky they weren't doing 170!!! TBH I don't like people getting huge sentences for manslaughter charges, surely the justice system is there to prevent crime happening (scaring people because of the consequences they face) so why does an accident mean you get prison time - that's just not fair! In this case obviously they were driving dangerously and as has been said the punishment is fair enough, but it shouldn't be because of the causing death, they can't say a life for a life it was an accident for christ's sake!! If someone pushes someone else over and they hit their head and die, you don't think they should be punished even though they didn't mean to kill them? tbourner
In that paticular case they should be punished for pushing someone over, which I'm guessing would be an assault or ABH charge, but not for killing them no - they didn't kill them did they it was the falling badly/hitting something badly that killed them. The fact is that won't happen because someone will come along and say "Yeah but then people would be murdering and getting away with it because they claim it wasn't intended", but that's a case of not trusting our justice courts to prove guilt accurately enough, nothing to do with whether or not the punishment is fair. Kopite
they didn't kill them did they it was the falling badly/hitting something badly that killed them. But they wouldnt of fallin/hit something if the person hadn't pushed them? So if i throw someone out of a plane and say "i knocked them and they fell, but it was hitting the ground that killed them, nothin to do with me", then i shouldnt face a murder charge? Ian C
Milud, I fired a bullet. Do me for illegally discharging a weapon, by all means. But that shopkeeper died of the bullet hitting him, nothing to do with me. I didn't touch him. Ridiculous. -Ian

Jake
AIUI, manslaughter is when you didn't intend to kill or do serious injury to someone but you should have known that your reckless actions could well result in seroius harm to someone. And driving like a twat on the public road is clearly reckless and dangerous and deserves some stir if you hurt/kill someone.
Matt T
They were doing speeds of 70mph on a dual carriage way? Yes as they say, speed kills Nothing to do with them driving like twats then
